I like quite a few covers of different songs, whether I liked the original or not. Covers can take a song in a new direction, which isn't always a bad thing. Or it just gives it some really nice sound to the song.

It varies. You can get damn good covers like Jimi Hendrix and All Along the Watchtower.......or you can get Madonna covering American Pie. I guess it all depends. For my part I really like Metallica's cover of Turn the Page by Bob Seger

I'm going to say something that might reduce my standing in the eyes of some of you, but...

I really, really liked Smash Mouth's version of "I'm A Believer".

As for "remade songs", do video game remixes count? Because I loved this one:
I'm with you on the Smash Mouth version of "Believer". It's like that song was written for them.

OT: I'm generally not fond of covers, since more often than not the artist doing the cover adds nothing to the song, but Metallica tends to cover songs rather well and make them their own. There's an entire album of them too.

One from U2, covered by Johnny Cash, it's easily better than its original, oh god I love Johnny Cash.

I enjoy Avenged Sevenfold's version of "Walk" by Pantera better than the original, mostly the vocals. Also, Killswitch Engage's version of Dio's "Holy Diver" I enjoy, I like both of them equally though. But that's only a couple songs out of thousands or millions that are covered where most of them are crap.

I've always thought this is a good cover.

A terrible cover is something like this:

The cover I've been listening to most recently is the "Toots and The Maytals" cover of Take me Home (Country Roads).

Muse do a lot of really good covers, like Feeling GOod and House of the Rising Sun.

I almost forgot this!

Not the biggest Mairlyn Manson fan, but this song and "This is the New Shit" are quite good.

Mad World should sum this thread up nicely. A song first made to be a pop-techno type but later made to be sad and moving song.

Covers are awesome as long as it adds a new aspect of it never thought before. (Unless people constantly asked for it of course)
Funny you mention that, my favorite version of Madworld is the cover/remix of the cover. But also the Tears for Fears one is better than the Gary Jules one.

*Cough*Opinion*Cough*

Both are fantastic, so is the one you posted! Thanks for that video.
