Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower

The prime example.
Yea pretty much this, I didn't even know it was a cover for years, and only started asking questions when it popped up in a covers only special hour on a radio show

I don't know why exactly, but I just like this version of the song better than Iron Maiden's.

Does anyone else think that this song could describe Skyrim?

Nobody has mentioned Jonny Cash's version of hurt yet?

Escapists, I am disappointed in all of you.

1, never knew it was a cover

2. original just sounds jarring

also alot of people mention Johnny Cash's hurt over NIN's original.....I think Cash's version is certainly amazing...but I can't see one as "better" than the other since they both work in their own way

its certainly no insult to Trent that somone like Cash would like his music enough to do a cover...especially when you look at the differenced between the two

i think Cash's version is better then NiN's simply beacuse he's an old man, who has lived through the terrible hardship and loss that is life, and you can hear that on his voice.

Johhny Cash- Rusty Cage (seeing as someone already mentioned hurt)

Fun fact, Trent Reznor has said that Hurt is no longer his song, it belongs to Cash now...

William Shatner's rendition of Rocket Man puts Elton John to shame.
Then Stewie Griffin's rendition of Rocket Man puts William Shatner to shame.

If Elton John were to watch Stewie singing Rocket Man, he'd shrivel up into a tiny little raisen and then explode.

Since I've been ninja'd multiple times on Hurt...

I really like Iced Earths cover of Hallowed be thy Name.
I really can't decide if I prefer this or the original more.

Well, there was a cover by these guys of the We Are Young song that I actually liked better than the original.

Even though that song is great (what I was gonna post), the original really wasn't a good song.

I prefer Alien Ant Farm's cover of Smooth Criminal. If it was their cover and Michael Jackson's video, it would be the greatest thing in the universe.

I prefer to be able to understand the lyrics in a song that has lyrics, and I couldn't understand a word said in Michael Jackson's version aside from "Annie, are you okay?".

Whenever this topic comes up, I always take the opportunity to introduce people to an a capella metal band called Van Canto.

Most of the covers Johnny Cash did with the exception of Cat's in the Craddle and Devil's Right Hand (though The Highwaymen's cover of that was better than the original).

Funny, I like Marty Robbins cover of Ghost Riders in the Sky much better than Johnny Cash's version.

I wasn't even aware that Cash had done Big Iron. Time to check it out.
