Hello Fellow Escapists. After just finishing Crackdown 2, I am slightly disapointed; believing the first Crackdown is much better than this one. So, what are your thoughts?

I prefer this one. The first one was terrible in my POV. This one is better but it aint that good. I'm only renting it though so yeah.
Very little has changed from the first. Unfortunately the things that did change are very bad and very annoying. Such as: mandatory, lengthy, and entirely unnecessary tutorial section; poorly rendered, unskippable 5 min. intro cut scene setting up a flimsy and unneeded story; the "handler" chiming in every 30s with completely unhelpful comments; the objective based mission system is extremely repetitive, changing nothing [except how much health the freaks have] between iterations; melee in this game is lackluster to say the least, in Crackdown, round housing an enemy at fully speed sent them ragdolling off into space, in Crackdown 2 they go 5 ft.; a helicopter? wtf is this shit?.

The first game had 3 criminal gangs, but here there are just the Freaks and Cell. Plus the ending was a little anti-climactic. Although I loved the dramatic music during the last mission.

I absolutely love it.
The mission structure is dissappointing, I miss the old gang bosses. But for pure 'fuck around in the sandbox' gameplay it's the best I've played.

yeah it's just a time killer for people who need to (poorly)relive their crackdown 1 nostalgia. and YES Mercs 2 definitely needed to be better. you nailed that one, Soapy.soapyshooter said:
I agree with this. Much of the spirit of the original felt lost, and the missions were more repetitive instead of varied and fun-filled. Also, both games had many areas with too many stupid enemies, so fighting them required a slow, boring strategy.soapyshooter said:

Crackdown 2's demo was terrible in my point of view. Maybe the game is better but honestly a demo is supposed to get you to want the full version for it's gameplay. I haven't played the first Crackdown but playing this demo almost makes me glad I didn't.
It's style is interesting, basically you're a supercop that can jump from building to building and shoot civilan-gang resistant and Virus Freaks. But that's the only "cool" thing to me and the gameplay got really annoying, really fast.
The targeting system is horrible. I had the hardest time trying to switch from the 4 guys I didn't want to shoot to hit a gas tank to kill them all. Driving cars seemed fun at first but the large armored cars are frustrating to drive and I left them alone. Last the camera view was too far away from the charater to be much of a shooter.
When I finally looked at how much demo time I had left it said 17 mintues and I just quit it myself. I feel like this isn't really a good review since it's mearly a demo and not the full product but I'm very unimpressed so far and I don't think I want to waste my money trying the real thing out.

Theres a lot more fun to be had with this game than in the first.
Mags are great.
Ducks are great.
Ramps Trucks are the same.
Barrage is fun if you do it right.

playing Crackdown properly is stupid. Crackdown is a terrible game, and one of the most fun games about... you just need to mess about and have fun.

go home, cover your friends in explosive ducks, get them in a helicopter, attach your suv to several cars, and then to your friend's helicopter... wait for the little lag spike while it all goes crazy... everything explodes and you fall into a gaint toilet, spinning crazily, after a 90572ft drop... whats bad about that?

Mercs 2 hit me hard. Mercs 1 was one of my all time most favorite games. I sunk more hours into that game than any other video game. I just wish I had a fat ps3 so I dust my old copy and play some more. My hate for EA hit an all time high after they fucked up Mercs 2 by pressuring PandemicSteinFaust said:
