I've heard great and terrible things about Crackdown for the XBox 360.

So, since I'm looking to shell out a little cash, I'm looking for anything that is under twenty dollars. That's where Crackdown caught my attention.

Looking through reviews, the first one received a decent amount of appraisal from quite a few well-known sites while the second installment completely sunk. But enough of that, I want to hear other opinions.

Was the game any good? Pros and cons? What can I expect from it plot-wise? How about the second game?

I've heard the in-game soundtrack is decent at least.

The first game is pure gold. Great gameplay, single and multiplayer (though I still say multiplayer is the way to go), and yes it has a decent soundtrack that really fits it well.

Crackdown 2 was quite a disappointment in respect to the first game. Story wise, it pretty much sucked, and felt a bit incomplete in some regards. It's the same setting as the first game except with some changes that take away from the fun of the city that most grew to love in the first game. I think the only good feature of Crackdown 2 is its multiplayer still, screwing around with friend is still fun, though not in all the same ways as it was before.

All in all, get Crackdown. You will not be disappointed. Crackdown 2, I would only get if you really are bored and liked the first game a ton. In that case a rental might do. I find myself going back to 1 more than 2 anyways.

The first game has a simple plot with no twists or turns: you are a super soldier, criminals took over city, kill they ass. Nothing changes from then on.

The gameplay was solid, though the climbing was fairly annoying, as buildings were designed so that a lot of ledges were just barely out of your reach. It's still one addictive game.

I didn't pay attention to the soundtrack. Make of that what you will.

Crackdown 2 is superior in pretty much every way: part of why it got such bad reviews is that it didn't upgrade much. Crackdown 2 has a different, but still wholly uninteresting plot. It's pretty much just a more polished version of Crackdown. With that in mind, I'd suggest going with Crackdown 2 if you can.

I have such fond memories of toggling the sticks and hitting teh buttons as my super soldier jumped from building to building or chasing after those gorram green orbs..

I despised Crackdown, but I never played the multiplayer (though I would have, was there split-screen). A lot of my hate comes from trying to reach the final boss, because you would have a whole lot of really heavy-hitting enemies to fight through, but they would all take ages because the targeting system was so terrible. But you couldn't just run through them because there was a massive wall you had to climb in full view of everything. This is assuming you could find your way into that building, which if they instructions for, I missed it.

Crackdown was not that great. It just had some open gaps. And the gameplay was extremely repetitive. The storyteling was extremely lacking and lazy. If you liked GTA, you'll prolly like this. (but I didn't like that either) And this is worse. Everythin Yahtzee said was true. KIll henchmen, kill boss, and repeat at infinitum. And the 'bosses' are just the same as the henchmen.20 bucks? Get the Assassin's Creed Series. They're all in the Classics now (and Brotherhood will follow soon) Arkham Asylum.
