Howdy all,

At the moment I've got myself a bit of a goatee, and a moustache, and I was thinking of going to a stubble look, but I don't know exactly how to do it. Do people use an electric contraption to set the hair length, or do it by hand?

Also, how does one actually get the hair that grows, say, along the jawline, to be of that prickly consistency. Is it a result of the above?

Cheers!

When I want a stubble look I just shave off my beard with some electric clippers on their shortest setting.

You don't do anything to get prickly stubble, it's not something you style, it's just what happens when you shave, it's just your facial hair cut very short.

Even if you do a wet shave by hand and shave down to the skin, stubble will grow as your hair starts to grow back, but if you want to maintain stubble then use an electric shaver on short settings (so you don't completely remove it, nor do you let it grow beyond stubble).

If you haven't got stubble growing on your jaw then there's nothing you can do to 'style it', you'll just have wait until you can grow a beard and then shave it close, either by hand or with an electric shaver.
