Do you feel that a crap game can be redeemed if you get it cheaper?
For example, I got the last Transformers game when it came out, traded in a few games and paid the extra. It went back the next day. Even the cheats for the Gen.1 characters couldn't save it.
However, having raised my son in the ways of the Matrix (or AllSpark to you young 'uns) I ended up buying it again for the price of £2 (about $3) and found myself enjoying it.
Ever gone back to a shit game on the cheap and found it wasn't as bad for the price you paid or do you believe a turd is a turd and should be left alone.

Some games are good games, but were not worth the original price. However, the price of a game does not affect the quality of it.

Well, chances are if you look hard enough you'll find an excellent game dirt cheap. How good it is doesn't effect the price.

So no, I'd just be pissed off I didn't buy the better one.

Not at all. But I didn't begrudge paying a few quid for it knowing it sucked but maybe that's the point. I knew it sucked but my 3 year old would have gotten something out of it even if it's just pressing the button to Transform the vehicles ad nauseum.

Something that is shit will always be shit regardless of the price.
Naw, I agree with the OP. I find myself buying stuff that I would never touch near full price, and dammit it's fun... but I'd be dissapointed if I paid full price. I don't think it's that hard of a concept, it works with everything.. not just games.
Yes but this doesn't mean the game was shit, U just thought it was expensive.

That's the other side of the argument. Finding a belter for fuck all. Rogue Trooper on the PS2 is the best 99p I've ever spent, but I'd have been happy if I'd paid a lot more.

While the price of a game doesn't affect it's quality, it's easier to overlook the flaws when it cost you a fiver rather than the full 50-60 that most new games cost these days.

If you buy a cheaper game you have lower expectations. I brought Earth Defence Force 2017 for £10 and loved it even though it has so many faults. I also bought soul caliber 4 for £40 and thought it was utter crap. Technically soul caliber 4 is a better game but the cheapness and the unexpected joy of EDF made it a far better game.

OP is right, for games that you're "on the fence" about, price is definitely a factor. Some games are a great value at any price (Fallout 3, Duty 4, etc.) but there are tons of games that I personally wouldn't touch for $60 but I end up buying at $20 and love (Kane & Lynch, Forza, etc.)

Obviously the list differs from person to person, but it's still a factor. And yes, there are some games that are just crap, for any price.

Sure. I don't think it is reasonable to expect a $20 game to be as good as a $60 one. No one expects a $100 graphics card to be as good as a $600 one. Cheaper games sometimes come from smaller companies who don't have the resources for top-notch presentation. Games from Atlus are generally simple in terms of presentation, but are innovative or original in some way and just aren't $60 worthy. However, they are generally worth $20 or so. The problem is when publishers charge full price at release for games that don't deserve it, which turns people away. If publishers charge the appropriate price for a game at release date, then there would be a lot less hatred in the industry. People do judge games based on the true quality, but a bad game will get extra sting if it is bought at full price. Price just enhances bad opinions on expensive games, not enhance good opinions of cheap games.

Some good games you can get at a very good price can if you wait a wile. I just got GTAIV Special Edition for $39.99 at Best Buy and I think it was something over $69.99 when GTAIV first came out.
