Have to Agree with Cry Wolf on Sennheiser stuff. Even the cheap (as in ~$15 equivalent. I'm in Europe) Sennheiser stuff sounds better than the majority of other cheap headphones. (of course, nothing cheap sounds like the stuff that's over $100 or so, but that's a completely different ballgame anyway.)
If they're 15 bucks and are better than Apple headphones, I'm in. Got a name for them?
Well, What I have is a pair of Sennheiser MX50 headphones.

They may have been replaced with a newer model, I'm not sure.

There's someone else's opinion of them, which sounds about right.

Since you're in Australia,

... OK, wow. Talk about ripoff pricing. >_<

Sorry.

The best price in the UK is £6.99
While in Australia the same thing costs $33?

I know the exchange rate is often £1=$2 or worse, but that would put it at no more than $20, not £33!

Grr.

Anyway, I would suggest you just look around for Senheiser as a brand. The MX50 was at the time basically the cheapest pair they produced, so it really shouldn't matter too much what, specifically you look for...

Otherwise, Wow. Price differences suck. >_<

Yeah, Australia sucks. It pisses me off.
Thanks, I'll see if I can buy some over the internet and get them shipped here cheap.

Anyway, my point is, is there something that you've bought that you feel the company cheaped out on because people will buy it anyway, or just don't care about the customers?
Try anything you've every bought ever from anyone ever.

But oh well: try the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds. Sick quality for what you pay.

Nah, there's a lot of stuff that I've bought and loved. A lot of companies actually do care about their customers. Valve for one.

I've bought the same RCA ear-buds for $19 for about 5 years now. And although I have purchased 6 pairs only one was due to equipment failure and that was after running them through the washing machine and dryer, even then the speakers were only a little fuzzy. The other 5 pairs I lost and found several times over.

Skullcandy does have decent customer service but I find their full bassist style headphones to have way too many small breakable parts which winds up in my fiance using their customer service and warranties far to often for my liking. I assume the ear-buds wouldn't be plagued by the issue of small movable bits, but would also have good sound quality as the headphones do.

Yeah, that's pretty close to it.

http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home_en.nsf/root/private_headphones_street-line_502853 - That's the specification for it, and that's pretty similar on most counts to mine.

(I found the packaging for mine, and it's similar on most counts.)

Ok, sweet.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully I can get some soon so I don't have to put up with the Apple crap anymore. :D

A good example of this would be the PC version of Modern Warfare 2. What a heap of crap that was...
Woah there, I know this is about companies ripping people off, but the Pc version of Modern Warfare 2 is leagues better than the console versions (unless you have like a 50 inch tv) even then theres better strategy and communication (as little as there is still) on PC. Anyway... yeah iv'e been ripped off in terms of headphones aswell, seriously i look after them, still usually a pair only last about a couple of months, best pair i ever had were free in pc gamer! (also had amazing mic attached).

The PC version of MW2 was PORTED from the console version. Sure, it might have been better on PC, but that's because PC games are awesome in general, not because PC MW2 was better than console MW2.

I don't know hoe you make the connection between hardware being cheap, and software being cheap. Not that I disagree with Modern Warfare 2 on PC being bad, but it's more a matter of opinion, isn't it?

Well, the ear-buds being cheap according to our high standards is also a matter of opinion, so I guess my point is moot.

Sony makes the best headphones/ear buds. Great quality costs about $15 (here in New York any way) and they tend to last me 6-7 months (I'm the type that blasts his music really loud though)

What?! Poundland have a website D:!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't help you on the headphones thing, I've had the same cheapo amazing pair for about 7 years and they're still going. There's no make or anything on them.

I find boots + Crap + ???? = PROFIT

I'll spend up to £150 on boots, but they'll still break. My £8 Primark ones have been the best so far.

Protip: Never buy $50+ headphones unless you only plan to use them at a PC while sitting perfectly still.

I still have a working pair of Sony headphones from the 90s. They cost me $10 back then. They have been bent, pulled, and burned (fun with lighter fluid!). I have bought other headphones though and the only thing thats come close to matching the durability of my old Sony ones are a pair of new Sony ones I bought for $15.

Whenever i think of crap making profit, Activision automatically springs to mind.

Followed by shovelware developers.

Followed by the 360 before the RRoD blowback. And again with what happened the NXE update.
