It's that movie right? Or it's a movie in my case. Maybe it's a game or a book. Whatever it was, ALL YOUR FRIENDS LIKED IT. They quoted the hell out of it and they'd talk about that one boss fight or make stupid memetic jokes in the vein of "arrow to the over 9000" crap and you despised it.

BUT HERE'S THE CATCH:

It has to have been out long enough so you have NO REASON to still be angry.

My Predictions:
A few of you will say Napoleon Dynamite and one dude (two if it's been a bad day) will say Skyrim.

Mine is 'Repo: The Genetic Opera'. I have no reason to still get pissy about that movie, but I so do. It's so awful.

Borat.

I enjoyed the film the first two times I saw it but the quoting, oh god the quoting. It went on for about a year and every now and again you still hear the odd person saying "you will never get this" in that voice.

"The cake is a lie."

I never really thought it was funny to begin with, and whenever I have cake, there is always one guy who has to say it. I swear I'm going to have birthday pie next time.

Then you would hate my local anime club. We love it.

OT: I'm not sure there's a statue of limitations on crap that bugs you. You get over it when you get over it, which is sometimes never.

Quoting Portal. Especially lines involving cakes.
It's not funny anymore. It wasn't that funny to start with.
But no, people still quote both Portal games like they revolutionised comedy in every single way.

Crap that still bugs me huh? Well. My girlfriend watched Twilight once. I will never let that go. Never. She didn't even like it and she didn't bother to watch the whole thing, so that's a redeeming factor but I can't forgive her so easily

But to be a little more on topic, games, books etc. Game of Thrones. I get it. I should read the books. They're oh so awesome. I should watch the series. They're equally amazing. I do get a bit fed up when people keep stressing for me to read/watch them. I have seen no hate towards Game of thrones from my friends and I'm not in any way saying it's bad, as I wouldn't know but I kinda wish people would drop it and let me do my own thing. I'm reading the Warhammer Horus Heresy books at this time.

Inception. I think that it was good. Not amazing, not mind blowing, not the second coming in movie form. Good. I might have liked it more if I had not had 2 of my friends and both my sisters saying how awesome it was for 3 weeks before I saw it. For me Inception was defeated by its own over hype.

Also Green Lantern. I wanted that movie to be good so badly. Damn you WB!

You are correct OP: I hate hate hate hate hate HATE Napoleon Dynamite.

The entire movie, all 2 hours of it, was utterly unremarkable. Not good, not bad, but just not even worth the brain space. It wasn't the kind of bad where you had a nice chuckle about how awkward a line was, or anything like that. It was just this geeky kid going around being a geek...I don't even recall a coherent plot, beyond something about a blonde girl and a student president election.

There was not a single memorable moment or line in the entire movie. And yet to this day I still see the odd "Vote for Pedro", etc. badge or t-shirt.

It is the shittiest, most overhyped 2 hours of film in the entire universe.

The Inbetweeners. I hate this show with a passion, it simply is not funny, its a bunch of 30 year olds pretending to be 16 year olds swearing at each other.

And yet people look at me like I have something wrong in the head when I say I say I don't like it and then then start quoting it me in the vain hope that their pathetic imitations of pathetic jokes will some how make me realize that I'm wrong.

I can't believe it got to be as popular as it did and win the awards it did. The episode where they all took drugs (I caught the last 10 minutes of it while waiting for something else to come on, I didn't go out of my way to watch it) was one of the most pathetic depictions of people who have had a little bit of weed since Sam Whitwicky's mum in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

*Deep breath* Yes, I am still angry about this to the point where I used to text the friend who introduced me to this heaping pile of shit about how bad it was every time I caught a bit of it until the point where he had to tell me to shut up as he simply didn't care any more. Thats how bad my hatred of this show got at one point.

Oh and Garden State. BECAUSE NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENS FOR THE ENTIRE FUCKING FILM!!!

Yes, the all caps and multiple exclaimation marks are necessary.

Yeah I watched a recent episode that involved Bender having a kid and the entire thing was like wtf.

I cannot understand how someone can take a story and premise as awesome as avatar: the last airbender and turn it into that shitty movie.

I hate Harry F-ing Potter...

I liked the first book, which I read when it came out at age 9, then steadily grew tired and bored as I grew up... I tried the first 2 movies, and found them tiresome, so have never revisited them...

But over and over people try and tell me I am wrong for not liking them, and I have been forced to watch the first film again to 'convert' me... now I just despise that goggle-eyed twat!

The books are just rediculously childish and badly written... seriously, no suspense and the bleeding-obvious is stated on a page by page basis... and then something totally random will occur and you have to suddenly try and work out what the hell is happening! In the second book, I got so bored towards the end that I actually spent half the scene with the giant snake think thinking it was a building... I got bored and only skimmed over the fact that a Basilisk was a snake, and not a Bastion! :S (We had just been covering the parts of a medevil castle at school... and my young mind was wondering off!)

I'll go with this. It wasn't even supposed to be funny in the game. Just one of many clues that something is very wrong at Aperture Science. Yet people seem to think that repeating the same line that was never funny in the first place over and over any time someone mentions cake makes them clever and humorous. You can feel free to apply this to almost any god awful meme. Anytime you find yourself repeating a meme, do the world a favour and consider not doing it. Odds are it's something which was a bit cute if not outright funny exactly once. The first time someone did it. Then for a little while it was worth a slight smirk and a knowing nod which says I see what you did there. But odds are, by the time it blew your mind everybody else has already begun planning the deaths of anyone who dares use it again.

And we can add a special mention to the whole "that's what she said" thing. I never watched much of the Office before this started. And the sheer prevalence of that meme has basically guaranteed that I will not watch the show ever. I've even seen some episodes recently and I couldn't get past my hatred of what that show spawned in popular culture to actually enjoy it.

Donnie Darko. It was an alright film with some fairly decent ideas, but the way my friends spoke of it as if it was the second coming of indie cinema was just so fucking irritating. What made it worse was the fact I was in the midst of a Film Studies lecture series at School and it was the only thing anyone would talk about. If you didn't like the film you were instantly labelled as "not getting it" by pretentious little twaddles so obviously trying to appear cool yet not realising the irony of telling someone they "don't get it" when the films main aim was leaving itself open to interpretation. It's perfectly possible to understand all the intricacies of a movie yet still think it's shit or simply not for you. Like for example Prometheus, I understand all the latent symbolism (although it was hardly subtle if you have any knowledge of greek mythology) and how certain aspects are supposedly left open to interpretation, but I still think it's a shit, badly made film.

The last Harry Potter book. To be fair, by the time it came out I'd got too old for them anyway. Neither of the previous ones had registered much beyond "meh - that was alright for a kids book, I guess". But I felt like I had to read the last one just so that I'd read all of them.

I swear J.K. Rowling had just stopped giving a sh!t. Most of the middle part of the book was three (and then two) teenagers camping in the New Forest and having stupid teeny arguments. The ending was eye-rolling and the epilogue read like a bad fanfic.

I have no right to still be pissed off about this. But that bloody book took me hours to read (most of it on a train journey from Edinburgh to London). I want my train journey back! I could have been looking at the scenery!!!*shake fist*

Shhhh, that doesn't exist.
It just doesn't.
Avatar: The Last Airbender has only ever been a cartoon.
Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.
(Unless there is something not shitty floating around that I don't know about.)

I'm going to have to agree with the Futurama stuff too. It took me a while to figure out, but all of the characters except maybe Fry and Leela are just wrong now. Bender is a one-trick offense-spouting pony, where if you watch the first couple seasons it is clear (I think, at least) that that just isn't him.
Also, I still feel like the pacing feels off or something like that. I just can't like the new episodes as much as I adore the first 4 seasons (which I rewatch at least once every summer, I like them so much), even when the episode is actually fairly good. Just doesn't feel like Futurama.

I also still take issue with Harry Potter and Twilight.
I mean, I have nothing against other people enjoying these things if I'm being serious, but I will never take much interest in them myself because it feels too me too much like a watered down, maistreamed, teen-flick version of the things I do like - Lord of the Rings, for example.

How the Hell did Napoleon Dynamite get popular?! It just looked so stupid...

Force Unleashed 2 never happened. It was such a freaking waste and a slap in the face of the first game's lore. Clones ruin Star Wars dammit, just ask Palpatine.

Identity Crisis was freaking pointless and the ending was a freaking joke. "You can't just lock me up Ray!" *cuts to Palmer signing Jean Loring into Arkham Asylum*. Also that line about, "Clark hears what he wants to hear." What the Hell is THAT?!

Arkham City advertised the Hell out of Catwoman and even made it clear that she was a part of the main game...then a week before launch announce that you have to put in an online pass to use her at all...screw. you. No I wasn't going to buy used but not everybody's console can maintain an internet connection you jerks!

Also hey OP, I agree that Repo was garbage. Not even Sarah Brightman could save that train-wreck.

captcha = gee whiz xD!
