Famous people throughout the ages have often said witty quotes that many people, often less witty, have repeated. Now it's your turn. Don't choose a line said by somebody else, instead make one up yourself; it doesn't have to be inspiring or funny, in fact it could be de-motivational if you wish, but try to make it powerful. Make it a line worth quoting.

Here is mine:

"Logically there is a limit to how far we can reach, there is only so much we can achieve. But if humanity was a logical race there wouldn't be so many alien sightings; it is the genius in our madness that lets us break these limits."

"They say we only use 10% of our minds. This is not true. The 10% is simply what we are consciously aware of, everything else is devoted to your subconscious. You can catch a glimpse of the other 90% in your dreams. It's the part that governs your personality, your preferences, and when there's a fight, it decides which side you stand on. In short, everything that makes you you, goes on beneath the surface. You might catch a glimpse of it in your dreams, but if you can learn to truly know yourself, and to harness all those swirling thoughts beneath the surface and focus them, you can make those dreams into reality."

These are the kinds of quotes where I honestly just want to reply with "Source?"
Uh, my head?

Heh, if you look up there, you'll see I edited it slightly because I didn't quite like how that middle part sounded. If I was quoting someone else, I'd have to be crazy to rewrite it. Also, you could google it, nothing will come up.

As for the actual "source," (that is, the inspiration), it's due to a conversation I was having with my brother yesterday. He was saying how he was disappointed with humans in general and thought that as a species we were not very impressive, being overly destructive, cruel at times, etc. I was arguing against that, and we ended up talking about why people are the way they are, with a focus on the subconscious. It's been bubbling around the back of my head, and when I saw this thread, I figured it was as good a time as any to try to put my feelings into words.

That's probably waaaay more specific an answer than you were expecting, (if you were expecting an answer at all, heh).

"We've just made life into a game, with 1000 complex rules. Remember how simple life was? Remember how boring it was? All these rules... no one can understand them all. Each of us has a part of the world in us, but not enough to understand. Hence, just go with the flow! Don't try to understand."

Heh, that's certainly a very chillaxed attitude... I wish I could go with the flow, I'm too curious for my own good, I'm always trying to figure out the "why" AND the "how" (I need both!)

I've got some quotes, but I've never gotten to know the source of them.
But I'm quite lazy late of date, so I'm just presenting one.

"People who watch TV are looking at other people having lives whilst they have none"

Heh.
"If there really is nothing new under the sun, we'll have to go underground."

[small]Yes, I came up with this. No, you're not allowed to point out a flaw in the logic, it's about the idea behind it, dammit.[/small]

I liked this one from an old mad comic: "If we learned from our mistakes, we all stayed in bed."

no we only use 10% at any given time, we do use all of it just not at the same time.

I'm pretty sure I made that up....

"Women may be the most anxious to get ready for an event, but men take the least time to get ready." I remember when I first told that to my dad and he laughed. I feel a little bad making a sexist remark, but don't worry I'm not a sexist by heart.
