i had seen the typical garbage that was ordinarily posted in forums and none of them drew me to post in them. then i found intelligent insightfull comments on the escapist forums. were my eyes ddecieving me? they even used correct punctuation? even capital letters (occasionally ;-)?!
You win the game of irony.

I would say this is a great community, but nobody's requested me as a friend...
*cries in corner*

But seriously folks, I'd say this is one of the best forums I've encountered. Personally, I'd prefer even better use of the English language. It's pleasant to read AND gives me the freedom to utilize my vocabulary.

I'll be your friend, okay?
I won't.

*throws garbage at Larenxis*

I had a very...troubled childhood.

http://3scapism.blogspot.com/ seems to be taking off?

Anyway, me and Joe were discussing this on MSN literally yesterday. I suggested that we start holding fun matches on a decent online game (TF2, BF2?) every few weeks and stuff like that. Maybe play against the staff, too? PC Gamer UK did a similar thing and hits to their website skyrocketed. Perhaps its time we, are a community attached to a magazine, emulate that.

Forum communities build themselves without anyone mentally committing themselves to do it, honestly. They are built every time someone starts a new and interesting thread, every time someone gets into a spirited yet great debate about a controversial issue, and when some random poster does something completely and utterly memorable that makes people look back and say "remember the time on the forums when..."?

Every day that people choose to patronize the community on The Escapist, is another day that the community is built. The key is, as someone said, maintaining the quality of posting and discussion going forward. I have come to start posting regularly on these forums because I appreciate the level of maturity and good discussion I am seeing here. it's a comfortable size and certain topics can be talked about without things descending into unproductive flamefests. As a war-weary moderator from other websites I find this one refreshing, so I do hope that everyone realizes that we are building a community without even realizing it, and that if things keep rolling along, it'll be one with its own unique stamp.

Even though my uo server's forum is filled with flamewars, i was able to fit in quite nicely. Everyone does, until they know how god of a pvp'er are you. Most of them flame each other a lot, but in the end, we all love each other :(

Ok, how about this. From this point on in the thread, we post our tags and whatever type of online community that we are a part of, and that way we can send each other friend requests.
Sounds like a good idea. My steamID is Loud&Clear and i just joined the escapist group. I mostly play css and dod. Haven't played in quite a while, though, since i'm mastering guitar hero.
