For some reason the mirror ghost in the hotel level of hitman: contracts creeped me out. That whole hallway is just... weird, especially given that it is a game about an assassin, not

Bioshock. The first hour, when you're creeping around with nothing but a wrench, a revolver with scarcely any rounds, and a fist full of electricity.
This and basically any section where I was running low on ammo and I could HEAR a Splicer but I couldn't see him yet.

Ravenholm in Half-Life 2. In particular when you first encounter the fast zombies. Ugh, their screams stayed with me for a while after.
I just got through that for the first time and there was a point where I didn't know where to go and all I had left to kill the every growing zombie numbers was the gravity gun and a broken fan blade. Having no ammo in that section of the game makes it really unnerving and I get really panicky.

The mirror room in Silent Hill 3. You know the one. Gore and jump scares don't do much for me, but that, that made me want to run away screaming.

Many things in Yume Nikki, but especially the Toriningen. They'll chase you and put you in a tiny room. [small]I never encountered UBOA.[/small]

[sub]The music messes with my head too.[/sub]

In Fatal Frame 3, the game became progressively more creepy as it went on. In the beginning of the game, your home was a safe place, but, by the end of it, ghosts were tearing into your home. They watched you through windows and waited in your closest. They hide in your attic and grabbed at your ankles from under your bed. They even attacked you while you were in your shower. They watched you while you slept, standing over your bed just staring.
Great I just got creeped out by someone with a my little pony avatar, and actually now the avatar is staring at me. I don't think I'll ever play Fatal Frame because of what I just read.

I officially regret entering this thread

Hearing someone's footsteps behind me when I was taking a walk(at night) after a couple hours of Amnesia.
...
Not quite a moment in a game, but definitely caused by a game.

First 10 minutes of the original Silent Hill. And now I still get a little nervous when my radio goes funny.

Shit that was like...at least 10 years ago, I should get help.
Crap. Every time the radio in any of those games crackled up when I couldn't see enemies creeped me out.

My thoughs while playing Fatal Frame 2;

- All right... A scary ghostly hand... That is kinda creepy.
- Walking around the place, nice....

Few Hours Later:

-Cool window that one, let's take a look at it.
- OMFG! Fucking ghost. I am having a heart attack?

The entirety of Rule of Rose. Damn was that game creepy in just about every imaginable way.

Darkness? Check.
Monsters? Check.
Creepy Music? Check.
Your character's near lack of anything combat-related? Check.
Creepy children who want you dead? Check.
Constant hints towards pedophilia? Check.

Anytime I played Silent Hill 3 and there was no noise or music at all. I would begin to feel tense expecting something to jump out at me, and the longer nothing did attack me I would grow even more tense until eventually I I was practically begging the game to throw a monster at me so that I could relax (irony.) The game really felt like the kind of experience where it just threw me into a creepy situation and watched gleefully as I tortured myself.

Well, it's past 12 and I'm slightly too scared to sleep in the dark. -_- Thanks Escapist for ruining my sleep cycle!... Okay it was my fault for clicking on this forum but still! OP: When I was 5 and I was playing MegaMan for the Nintendo 64 and I was only playing through the first level and as soon as I saw the first boss thing I immediatly turned off the console and unplugged it. Isn't scary now... but I was an easily frightened toddler.
