Yeah, I've had mental dreams, and the strange thing is how I totally accept its not strange, what's going, for instance, and it's linked to the 'falling' dreams, I used to have a recurring dream where I'd be stuck in the back of a Model T Ford with Dracula, Wolfman, Mummy and Frankenstein, proper Hammer Horror style icons, was always Dracula and Frank either side of me and Wolfman driving, and then Frankenstein would pull his finger off to expose a drill, and he'd start pushing it to my lower back, and I'd wake up, but I'd be all arced off the bed, like I was trying to strain away from the drill. I've also had the falling thing a fair number of times.
When I was young I used to have a thing where a bunch of living scarecrows were going round with pitchforks, but they were actually giant dinner forks.
When they caught people they'd mash them like potato, and this was totally scary for me, despite obviously being complete nonsense, as everything in dreams seems real and rational to me.
My trouble is I've had some epic action/horror movie style dreams involving famous people or video game characters, but I tend to forget details after about 5 mins of waking. I tend to keep returning to nuclear war as a subject too. I remember getting some survivors and breaking into Jamie Oliver's house and throwing him out so the survivors had somewhere safe. (yes, for some reason nukes couldn't penetrate a house, despite flattening almost everything else around, and radiation can't get in, like I say, common sense never seems to apply to mine.)
