I think it's kinda cool. Although I don't think they are supposed to look 'real.' There are many contradictions if he DID try to make them look real. For example, that egg Pokémon is said to be cute in the anime. THAT AIN'T CUTE. But yeah, it is his art style to make everything cute, and cuddly to look quite disturbing. Thumbs up from me.
