This video's really rather funny, but something about it deeply unsettles me. No, not the fact that (shock horror) there's a former pornstar in it, but it's the general attitude of the people in the comment section toward her. Now I know, no-one should realistically take YT comments seriously, because it's filled with the anonymous inky black vitriol of the internet, but I'm going to remark upon it anyway.
It's a satirical reenactment of some fucking creepy shit (which is quite unnerving in of itself), but simply because Sasha Grey has, and I might add, used to perform sexual acts on video in exchange for money, she has less worth than another life. She should, according to a vast number of people, be denounced as some kind of monster, and chased from existence by some kind of veritable imaginary angry mob.
She's called a tramp, a slut, a "mentally sickened cockgirl" (PAHAHAHA), and is generally treated with so little respect it's as if she's a fucking sub-human.
Let me put this across as simply as I can. It's just sex. Everyone does it, and there's nothing bloody wrong with it, even if it is on video. She didn't go out and kill a maternity ward full of newborns, she didn't eat her own parents, she wasn't part of the goddamn Columbine Massacre, she had sex that happened to be on camera.
This kind of disgusting, morally reprehensible mentality is just so wrong, on so many levels. She's a person, and as such deserves the same amount of base human respect as anyone else, and I'm not being funny, but anyone who can make an off the cuff, spur of the moment comment such as "I don't do that kind of work anymore", knowing perfectly well that there's a good chance that more people in that room have seen her naked, than haven't, is really rather admirable. I'm not going to go on about feminism, or anything like that, but Jesus Christ, is it that fucking hard to just treat people with a little bit of common decency?
