I think Animal Collective and Panda Bear are freaking terrible, and I don't understand why they receive so much critical praise - it's all just shitty noise
You sir, are awesome. I feel the same exact way. I even tried hard to like AC, but I hate them so much. Do you like Beach House? I love them. and MGMT is probably my favorite band of all time.
Wow, I did the same thing - I must have listened to "Merriwether Post Pavillion" like 3 times, since it was apparently so "amazing", but it just sounded like noisy shit each and every listen. I've actually never listened to MGMT, but since you clearly have awesome taste in music, I shall give them a try.

And I don't think I've ever met another Beach House fan - I just discovered them this year when I listened to Teen Dream, and they've quickly become one of my favourite contemporary groups.

The first seasons of family guy. Everyone says it's the absolute best but its so boring. Most of the plots are just dull and the jokes don't hit the same mark. I don't like the newer episodes (Aside from the multiverse episode.) but the old episodes bore me.

Anything and everything that's a series on CBS/ABC/

The only series I still enjoy is MASH. And the occasional Star Trek: TNG.

3D movies, the glasses hurt my nose, and the 3D is used more as a gimmick than actually being worked into the movie for narrative purposes. In short it's just a way for the movie companies to make us pay even more for their crappy movies...cough cough AVATAR

Merriweather Post Pavillion is the album I gave a serious shot. Aaand it sucks balls. I can't stand all the noises that just repeat the whole way through each song. Ughhhh!!!

Ya, I just discovered Beach House this year too. Teen Dream really is amazing. Devotion is pretty good too, but not on the same level as Teen Dream. They sorta remind me of Spiritualized, that song "Ladies and Gentleman we are Floating in Space." - good tune.

And you should definitely give MGMT a listen, both of their albums are different, but I think they're both amazing (obviously, i'm an MGMT fanboy). You should start with Oracular Spectacular.

Since you also like good music, what other bands do you like? I'm always looking for something new.
Well, in terms of relatively new stuff, I'd definitely give Surfer Blood's Astrocoast a listen - it's one of my favourite albums released so far this year. It's basically Alt-rock with a notable 90s influence.

Another album which I've had on my computer for a while but just listened to yesterday is No Age's Nouns - it's basically lo-fi noise punk, similar to Dinosaur Jr. (and therefore it's awesome in my opinion) - by the way, if you haven't listened to Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr. yet, by all means do so.

By the way, I listened to Oracular Spectacular yesterday - great album. I can't believe I hadn't even heard of those guys until you brought them up :p

Avatar, Halo (Everything after 1. 1 was actually pretty funky), Just A Beaver (Say it slightly faster....I refuse to spell that name properly) in fact....most music like that, most movies, anything that came from the deep, deep rectum of Stephanie Meyer.....I could go on...

Basically, I just go for what I enjoy. I thought MW2 was fun, so I play it. I don't give a flying fuck if half the world praised it like it was James Camerons and Stephanie Meyers love child, and the other half thought it was four hours of crap. I also thought Boondock Saints 1/2 were awesome yet Avatar sucked to the point where I considered demanding a refund after paying to see it in 3D.

Oscar Season films. I despise almost every single film released in this 2-3 month window, because they quite literally have no other purpose for existing beyond reaching for Oscar gold. There are a few that rise well about that level, but I can't stand them for the most part.

Avatar. Resisted this movie for months, bought it on Blu-Ray, and was actually quickly turned off by the visuals. The action and CGI just couldn't displace how annoying and insulting the simple story and blatant environmental sledgehammer message played out. It undermined my enjoyment.

R-rated comedies. Sorry, I'm sure there are many here who love these, but I can't stand them. Rather than being witty, subtle, dark, or sharp, they strike me as obnoxious and really, really stupid.

And I hate it when fanboys (and girls) toss around the word "epic". I'm so sick of hearing about it, because it's everywhere. A bug budget summer tentpole comes out and the internet is buzzing with fifteen-year-olds telling everyone how epic it is.....and it's just shiny, expensive CRAP.

Most Broadway musicals. I listen to a lot of NPR at work, and Terry Gross interviews people occasionally who've done 'great things' on Broadway.

Then they'll play a snippet of the music, and I just turn it off and put my ear-buds in for the next hour.

2001: A Space Odyssey, and i'm a film critic.
Bored the crap out of me.
Good cinematography though.
HA!

I've tried several times to watch this movie. I put the DVD in, hit play, and the next thing I know I'm waking up to a fetus floating in space wondering where the last three hours went.

Tyler Perry. ANYHING by Tyler Perry. Every play, movie, and tv show I've been forced to watch by him was almost a painful experience. So predictable and stupid.

I don't understand the popularity of Ninja Gaiden Black or other games like it that are not only challenging but seem to be made for the sole purpose to piss you off. I understand liking hard boss fights or a game that makes you struggle a bit. Not a game that does crap like give you another life and then fills the chest next to it with exploding enemies or some shit that makes you use the only extra life you have that they just gave you. That's just evil and not fun.

Avatar because to me they are reusing the same extreme industrialism vs extreme nature lovers message that Odd World has. It's just they do it in a much less interesting and imaginative way. I honestly believe an Odd World movie would beat Avatar by a mile.

Little John and every annoying as hell rapper. Why do people like listening to him? I want to hurt him every time he talks. Also, since I'm talking about him in particular, Freaknic the Musical. Why do people keep telling me to watch that shit? It was terrible.

the ending of Neo Genesis Evangalion, ok seriously the last 3 episodes were massive clusterfucks that made no sense and the movie just made things even worse. I shouldn't have to have a masters in philosophy in order to understand a god damn story!

The Big Lebowski. I recently watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and thought it was utter tripe. Maybe that's a bit too harsh. I enjoyed the first, maybe, 45 min to hour of the movie. After that though...I, I just don't know how people thought that movie was so damn amazing.

Also, No Country For Old Men. I really enjoyed the movie right up until the end. Then I just had no idea what was going on. (I'll refrain from putting any spoilers, even though I really don't think I got the end of the movie well enough to spoil it)

Dr. Who when it was done with David Tennet.

I may get a lot of heat from this, but I absolutely HATED Shadow of the Colossus. I'm usually a huge fan of art house games that push the envelope like Braid, Spider, Katamari Damaci (dunno if that's really considered Art House) and even Ico (same team). But in this case, I found utterly boring and stopped playing after I spent 10 minutes trying to kill the first colossus. Sure, the graphics were amazing and so were the music and general ambiance, but it wasn't enough for me to actually keep playing...
Actually that's exactly how I felt about the game. Mostly because it was so empty that it didn't make sense to me. Yes I know I'm supposed to feel alone and yes I know there are colossi in the area, but where are all the animals? You went into forests, mountains, by lakesides, and so on but I barely saw any wildlife. That makes no sense. That's like having an ocean with gorgeous coral reefs and kelp forests but no fish or other sea animals anywhere. Maybe if you're lucky you might see a starfish or snail that blends into the background. That seems kinda lazy to me.
