Batman and Robin is fucking hilarious and amazing. It's been panned by pretty much everyone, but I don't give a damn, I loved it.

Seriously, I was laughing my ass off the whole movie. It was amazing.

The first Mortal Kombat film. IMO, one of the best movies based on a video game. So, it's basically Enter The Dragon with video game characters shoehorned in, but it's an enjoyable romp. The second one was total garbage, though.

Chronicles Of Riddick. Hardly the greatest movie ever, it was a little over-the-top for me, but it had a feel reminiscent of classic sci-fi from the 60's combined with a visual aesthetic snagged from Warhammer 40k. And there's a rather subtle element to the performance and the story which is hard to catch the first time through.

More recently, John Carter. That movie was damn good. Enjoyable scenery and action sequences, and while it changed things from the books the changes were overall for the better. Stiff acting, and a weak villain, but it's a pulp story and that tends to go with the territory. It hits I desperately wanted to see a sequel to it, but that's not going to happen.

TRON Legacy was critically panned? 0_0

I didn't even know, I'm throwing my lot in there too. I mean bviously it has all the Disney bullshit and baggage and you can tell, but the aesthetic, setting and score were all (I thought) really good.

I'll admit that "panned" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it wasn't too well received. 50% approval on RottenTomatoes and a Metacritic score of 49.

The Butterfly Effect. I consider it to be an well shot and (mostly) excellently written time travel story. Very few movies have had an emotional impact on me as that movie had. Sure, Ashton Kutcher was in it and there was one face-palm worthy plot hole at one point, but overall it was a great movie. Ashton Kutcher actually did a pretty good job as the main character.
I didn't know The Butterfly Effect was panned. I love that film; seen it a bunch of times and it's really well-paced and pretty heart-wrenching!
Yep, its sitting at a measly 33% on Rotten Tomatoes. To compare, it has a 7.7 user score on the IMDB, which is a great score. I just don't get movie critics most of the time.

If we consider Tron: Legacy to be a panned movie, then OH YES. Tron Legacy looked gorgeous and had one of the best soundtracks in years. It was extremely entertaining to watch, and proper application of Jeff Bridges makes anything better.

If we're looking for films that Rotten Tomatoes says are panned, though, I have to go with Kung Pow! Enter the Fist. How does that movie have 11% on Rotten Tomatoes? HOW? I finally got to watch it with some friends in my dorm right before finals, and I laughed through the entire thing. It hilariously parodies the tropes of martial arts films and dubs in general, and I had a wonderful time with it.

Wild Wild West and Tron Legacy are the only two movies I can think of right now - and really on'y because they were mentioned in this thread. That doesn't bode well for the case of my memory. =(

50% is still below passing grade (unless you're in high-school, that is.)
55% was actually passing grade at my high-school. XD

A lot of people shit on the Mel Gibson film "Payback". I thought it was a fun flick. I don't secretly think it was Oscar material or anything, but it was fun to watch and the anti-hero vibe of Gibson's character was interesting.

Alien 3.
This. It doesn't add any new elements to the story but it does a good job with what it has. Now to make things REALLY weird, I actually like the directors cut of Alien 3 more than Aliens. Reading about the development problems behind that movie will make you a lot more sympathetic to it lol

Bam, right here. By the way, Marter, your review of Dude, Where's My Car? was absolutely fantastic. Easily one of my favorites of yours.

Going by Metacritic, I would defend Predator to the last. 36/100? Hahaha!

It's a better Horror movie and action movie then half the shit that comes out in this generation. Not to mention it launched one of the Most Iconic monsters in modern cinema, scratch that... modern culture.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sucker Punch.

However, I'll pick Vampire's Kiss, starring Nicolas Cage. While a few critics liked it, it's met with general revulsion from the people I talk to.

But when I watched it with a couple friends at a Nicolas Cage marathon, well...

How the hell am I not supposed to adore it?!

I just checked the 2 lowest scoring pages on metacritic (all 19/100 or less), and from that list I'd say:
Biodome - 1/100 (yes, it's a stupid/silly movie, but 1/100?)
The Mod Squad - 16/100 (Saw it in the cinema, not brilliant but definately fun to watch)
Hudson Hawk - 17/100 (I watch it everytime it comes on the television)

The last Airbender, it gets the entire first "book" into a movie, it does feel a bit rushed at times, but it gets all of the important stuff in, and its has a more serious tone than the cartoon.

I would do that whole "I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul" clip, but I don't want to imply that you're stupid in any way because that would be unfair. You are, however, wrong. So very, very wrong. Don't even bother saying "it's just my opinion" because your opinion is wrong. It is. Don't fight it, just accept how wrong you are and we can all move on.

As for critically panned movies, I like the Star Wars prequels. Objectively I accept they are bad (except the third one, which I think gets labelled as far worse than it is just because the first two are just that bad), but I still enjoy them.

And I like Tron Legacy a lot. It's not an especially deep movie, but it's fun, with likeable characters and a solid plot. I actually was unaware that people disliked it. Hm.

John Carter of Mars (2012)

Every fucking whiny movie goer was like, this was in Avatar, or Gladiator etc....where the hell do you think those movies stole their shit from you illiterate bastards?

That movie got fucked over in the worst way because suddenly Disney, advertising mega-power, got so coked up they couldn't advertise a movie about a Confederate soldier who goes to Mars, becomes a superhero, rescues the princess and fights epic battles with and against the peoples of Mars and then couldn't even let it be called 'John Carter of Mars' or more accurately, 'John Carter and The Princess of Mars'.

It was a grand epic that looked, sounded and was acted well.

John Carter was a great movie. Also Sucker Punch. Those 2 movies will forever confuse me, as I cannot fathom why they're so hated. They're decent movies, even if you don't think they're amazing, its still well shot, well acted, beautiful visuals, decent story, etc. Its not some crap that Uwe Boll shit out one morning.
