It's bad enough that the woman thought steam would fix their computer, but that was the only way of getting steam? Maybe they should cover the laptop in case it gets damaged or put it next to a kettle. Oh well, at the end of the day they happened to be not as 'technologically capable' as the average computer user and that stabbed them in the back. I do feel sorry for them...

Whats sad is the fact that the victims probably would have never found out that their were naked photos of them all over the internet if the guy was never caught. If they did somehow find them with company, it would be awkward....

Why do all pervs and criminals always look so creepy? (Sorry, Icyneesan! (^_^) Why can't there be a good looking pervert?
Cause then they wouldn't be a pervert. They would probably have a relationship.

Only a really fucking stupid person can look at this and say "They should know better." It happens all the time on these forums. It's why everyone is absolutely astounded by the "casual gaming" nonsense. They are incapable of putting themselves into anyone else's shoes and understanding why the think (or do) the things they do. And, really, if you can't do that, you're a moron.

Right, we're morons because we can't put ourselves in the shoes of someone who is using an electric device near steam, vaporized water. It's not like it's common knowledge that water + electrics = BAD. Oh, forgive us The Bandit, as we're all insensitive pricks for not having sympathy for these poor "Darwin Award" nominees.

I blame both parties equally.
Right. Because blaming the victims of a pervert is a perfectly logical conclusion to make.

(rolls eyes)
While I get where you're coming from, I'm sure you can see that the victims were just being idiots. Seriously, exposing your computer to steam is supposed to fix it? And how does that translate to "Shower with the curtain open?"
Lack of technological knowledge does not equate to stupidity. These individuals took their computer to a "professional" (he obviously wasn't) because they had conflicts with their devices they could not resolve themselves. If they couldn't resolve said conflicts on their own, does it not make sense that they wouldn't be suspicious of the error messages on their PC? In short, they placed their trust in this man to perform professional tasks they could not, and he instead exploited them for his own sexual enjoyment. Blaming them is the worst thing you could do.
Actually some women don't learn to use computers on purpose. Either they are scared, can't be bothered or have this mechanism where they believe that being clueless about technology makes them attractive to men who will come to their rescue. I'm probably being sexist but on this occasion it is because I witness it every day. So are some of these women stupid? Yes they are, and a lot of other things!

Lack of knowledge is the definition of stupidity, actually.

Being able to fix a computer and knowing that steam and computers don't mix are two vastly distant distinctions in knowledge. If they don't know that, do they get someone to operate the computer for them too?

Encouraging consumers to have baseless trust in everything their computer, or someone who knows how to use one, says is the worst thing you could do, because it will help it happen again.

This whole scheme was that creep's doing, the motive was all his, and that's why he's being punished, but don't act like the idiots who put their computer next to the shower, open, and used it there and then aren't just that, idiots.

Nobody is suggesting they be punished, just that they're a bit wet behind the ears.

Thats just so wrong. If a guy put as much effort into getting a girlfriend as he did taking sneaky photos of them he wouldnt need to be breaking the law and being a total weirdo.

Makes me glad I don't have a webcam... Glad it never happened to my mom. She's probably tech-illiterate enough to fall for such a scheme. ...Then again, not many would want to take nudie pictures of a 60 year old woman...

How simultaneously genius and terrible.

Gotta be something wrong with him though. It's not like porn is hard to find on the internet. You can even find voyeur stuff too, so that this guy needed something more is telling.

Something tells me that most of the 1000+ pictures are shots of washroom floors, walls, ceilings and those women vehemently scrubbing their motherboards with dish washing soap.

For christ sakes man, half the internets is made of porn yet you go and work so hard for some poor dirty pics only to get busted...

That is a poor technician, he should know the easiest solution is always the best, I would fire him just for not knowing that.

I call the accuracy of this article into question. While there are enough misanthropes on the Escapist, and internet in general, to believe that so many people are this stupid, I frankly have a hard time believing this. Why did so many victims think that exposure to water would help the computer? Why did they decide to shower with the curtain open?
