And people wonder why nobody wants to develop major titles for PC.
It's been leaked? Heads are going to roll in CryTek. Big time.

From what i've heard, the beta does, however, sport the Cryengine 3 Editor.tomtom94 said:You see, how does this help anyone? There's already a demo so you can't use the "try before you buy" excuse.
Not all PC gamers are pirates, true. However, it seems (to me) that for every legitamite PC player there are 2 others who pirate games.gunner1905 said:I'm sorry I'm a PC gamer but I didn't and won't pirate this or any other game. My friends modchipped their 360 to play pirated games, doesn't mean all console gamers are pirates.
And anyway, from what I read this leaked version is busted. It's missing textures and can only be played on low settings. People who are interested in Crysis 2 ON THE PC would buy the game for the graphics and this leaked version looks quite bad.
Also don't say just try the demo cause there isn't one. If you're saying that we should wait for the demo, what about all the people who preordered it if the demo came out after release (they haven't given us a date) or is cancelled (not the first time something for the PC is cancelled-think Alan Wake-especially just a demo of a game). I really do think they would hold out the demo cause I have not seen any proof that the graphics is better than the first one (no PC vids or pics) and they are scared of chasing away all of their PC customer who I think wants to play Crysis 2 to test out their rig.
Lastly in this situation I would blame the guy who leaked this not the people who download this cause it's just an opportunity to try the game (because as I said before people playing Crysis on the PC would do it to test their rig and this version isn't useful for that task).
Or it could all just be a PR stunt. It certainly has got me interested in the game.
Listen, I get not everyone steals, but top pirated games of 2010 were:Vault101 said:excuse me? and I tink "no body makes games for PC anymore" is a bit of a large statment, if by that you mean PC exclusives then Yeah I do see less of them, however there are tons of games coming out for PC this year
and to be honest RTS MMO and even FPS are not my favorite genres
more than likely not, most pirates i know of personally (i know this doesn't account for generalizing the pirate population) but they are just greedy fuckers who couldn't give a rats ass, and they don't pay for shit.strangeotron said:Were they ever going to buy it?gmaverick019 said:ugh...

try as you might, pirates are pirates for a reason.

Megacorporation? Fucking Crytek is a Megacorporation now?ulan bator said:are you the creator, or a relative of the creators and developers of the game, by chance?omicron1 said:So, this happened. [http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/02/11/an-actual-crisis-crysis-2-leaked/]
More than a month ahead of release. Singleplayer, multiplayer, online authentication key. Good grief. Makes me feel sorry for the gents at Crytek right now... but even more so for the person who did it, once they catch him.
also, with pirated copies of the game online, the megacorporations will probably lose only 1/1000 of the money they're going to make
also, the guy who pirated it will probably never get caught.

Bet Crytek's happy they're also releasing this game on PS3 and Xbox360.
But basically this is just going to lead to even more punishing DRMs.
If so I'd really like to see your sources on this.
I never said that piracy wasn't prominent or widespread on the consoles. But how exactly do those links show that console piracy is as common if not more common than pirating on the PC?crazypsyko666 said:http://btjunkie.org/search?q=Fable+III, http://btjunkie.org/search?q=Halo+reach, http://btjunkie.org/search?q=assassin*+creed+brotherhood, http://btjunkie.org/search?q=gears+of+war+2, Do I need to go on? i can agree to that, but what can you do to stop it? short of infiltrating a troll into every major publishing company...strangeotron said:Piracy may be the fault of pirates, but the ignorance of publishers isn't.gmaverick019 said:more than likely not, most pirates i know of personally (i know this doesn't account for generalizing the pirate population) but they are just greedy fuckers who couldn't give a rats ass, and they don't pay for shit.strangeotron said:Were they ever going to buy it?gmaverick019 said:ugh...

but the point that i was getting at with this is that even though there was no sale there, the publishers will still see this as a failure in the pc market as how many are getting downloaded and tried out and not be as willing to make pc games/exclusives in the future.
Possibly because Crysis is rather close to being a legendary PC symbol, and to have something like this happen to it is like finding out your little brother has been implicated in an assassination attempt on your favorite of the last four presidents.starfox444 said:*fist bump of agreement*Diligent said:Seriously, no need to get worked up about people downloading it, or in some cases I'm reading, wishing death or injury on the people downloading it (seriously, sort out your moral priorities).![]()
People who download it were never ever going to pay for it anyway, and people who planned to buy it are still going to buy it anyway. The industry can pretend all it wants but this is not going to affect the success or failure of the game. It's happened before and it will continue to happen as long as we have the internet. You can't consider the 10,000 pirated copies "lost sales" because they never would have been sales ever.
Funny how we can stand on this moralistic high ground, when really what is the difference between watching a TV series borrowed from a friend on DVD, and if that same friend played a pirated copy of a game you bought? Or hell, even borrowed a copy of the game you bought?
Money was exchanged for a single copy of both products, and two people are getting the same entertainment out of them.
Maybe that's a silly example but I'm just trying to point out what a benign thing it is that people are getting so worked up about. If pirates somehow deprived a paying customer of their copy of the game every time the game was pirated, then I'd be thinking quite differently.
Anyway, I plan on buying the game because piracy isn't cool, and I like to vote with my wallet, and pay for things I'd like to see more of.
But if somebody chooses not to, can we not wish their mothers to be curb-stomped because it just makes you just sound like a deranged bastard.
I'm really, really surprised about how up in arms many people seem to be.
