My guess is, it's because pc gamers are fed up with shitty cod clones.
Which is kinda ironic... Might just be me, but the multiplayer in this game looks like MW2 with nanosuits...

I downloaded the leak and I have played it a few times. I preordered Crysis 2 last night, you know why? Because I had tried it on my computer, it ran, and it was fucking awesome.
I am tired of people thinking that whenever anyone downloads the build it has to be something bad.
But wasn't there a demo?

Not for PC. Not yet.

Fair enough.

That makes me happy...not sure if I want to buy th game, since I'm not so much of a shooter enthusiast, but this is great news, not only for Crytek specifically, but for the whole industry. Make good games and stay close to the community and your game won't get pirated...or at least not so much.

Well I imagine we're still happy that a developer had the balls to make a PC exclusive FPS once upon a time and there's still some lingering love and goodwill, something hard to come by on the internet.

I'm probably just going to get it on xbox because I'm like 90% sure my laptop won't run it and that's all I have access to 80% of the time. (STATISTICS!!! AAHHH!!!)

Wow, it's disappointing that a)this could make you lose faith in humanity and b)that it could restore any of it either. If you think this is makes something "worth" fighting for, they have professionals that handle that kind of thing. You sound like my room mate, haha. No worries, I'm sparing you the real brunt of what I could say to something like that.
No, no, please go on. I'm intrigued as to where your thought process is going.

Also I never once mentioned that Crysis 2 being leaked made me lose faith in humanity, so you're merely projecting there. The reason it almost restores it is because it often feels like the majority of people are assholes, but for once that wasn't the case considering the staggering number of people who haven't downloaded it. Yes this is just one occurrence out of the countless events that go on constantly all over the world, but this is significant to me.

I am also curious as to these 'professionals' you are referring to. Who are they and what makes them qualified to override my personal choices and opinions with their own?

Yet this is the same community that Crytek crapped all over because they were pirating Crysis instead of buying it. Crytek still sold over 1 million copies of Crysis, which is very good for a pc game. Goes to show how wrong Crytek is about the pc community and that the community is more forgiving than they should be.

And by the way, since it was a beta release, has Crytek/EA talked about how this happened? It had to be an inside job. Yet no bitching about how it got released. Only about those damn pirates always downloading their work.

Actually the "perks" is a staple of a PC game called battlefield. Battlefield was released one year before the first COD game was released. In essence, COD stole the system from a well known PC game that has been around for years.

Crysis 2 is battlefield 2142 with more potent armor.
Not so much the perks, but the interface, guns, HUD, kill streaks... Crysis Wars was pretty fun, but this just looks like they wanted to copy MW2 to make money...

People are still thinking this was unintentional? Come on guys, leaks like this generate so much hype and free publicity it's not even funny...

This is interesting as today there's a great interview on Eurogamer about The Boy Who Stole Half-Life 2 [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-02-21-the-boy-who-stole-half-life-2-article].

Crytek will release a demo on PC on March 1st so there are no excuses to download the leaked version. I'm glad Crytek didn't suffer a lot of damage from this.

I'd wager it also has to do with a large download size plays a bigger part than a conscious.
Big downloads (which most modern games are mind you) don't scare people off. If they did no one would have ever pirated the first Crysis or Warhead or anything worth getting in the past five years minus Minecraft.

All of that was done before MW2. We are talking about 5-10 of already-there. MW2 only made it popular.
Yeah, I know. Lost of things were done in games before the popular ones did them, yet they get credit. I think half the things I saw in MW2 I saw in Battle Tanx back on N64. I'm trying to say this looking more like MW2 then it does like Crysis.
