Obviously our opinions on good and bad differ. You're happy with bland samey crap. I'm not. We'll leave it there.
I take it you just hate all FPS games, with the possible exception of valve, eh?
Crysis was different, both inside and out, in terms of FPS games.
oh, wait, no, you're just repping the 'scapist stereotype.
Actually, I hate Valve.
You're just repping the ignorance.
We disagree. It's fine. The world is still turning.

On noes, teh ev1l consolez are holding back development of PC games! Is this anything like how the building of mansions is being held back by the building of normal-sized houses with standard designs and features?

This is a real gem though:
we believe the quality of the games beyond Crysis 2 and other CryEngine developments will be pretty much limited to what their creative expressions is, what the content is.
Ummm....
Isn't that what games are usually bought for? You know, for the gameplay?
Do you not understand that "gameplay" can't advance with limited tech? It's not always about graphics you know.

You can only express so much with limited tech. If it is really true that Xbox 360 will be around until 2012 or later, then that means we will have DirectX 12 & 13, maybe even 14. While the majority of games will be releasing with DirectX 9 & 10, 11 as a port if we're lucky. That is very sad.

He is saying the well is virtually dry in creative expression right now. It is very difficult to be original with limited technology.
I'll bite. Minecraft. I said it. You can get originality without more complex tech. Devs no longer want to take the risk. I think this whole argument is a sorry excuse from a company who doesn't want drawn into the indie vs AAA argument. You can blame the tech all you want but frankly if these people went out of their way to build new engines, which few will, they could find that you can get more out of the technology than is let on. Also as a console gamer I see the usual bashings from both sides. I like consoles, and let me explain why. I grew up playing the Megadrive. I moved on from that to a PS1. Ps2. Xbox. Xbox 360. The reason I like consoles is it's a format i'm used to. I can use a controller better than quite a percentage can use K&M for FPS. It's NOT the be all and end all, it's just a different, albeit more easily acquirable skill. My console is more to me than just a gaming rig too. I watch sky tv on it. Use it to watch movies. I use it as a media center. I've updated my facebook on it when not wanting to crack the PC open. As a student, I have a netbook. I can't game on it, nor would I want to, and as a laptop user I need the kinda portability I can get out of it for class. Honestly this whole argument seems absurd. PC has a big market share, of that there is no doubt. A PC exclusive will only sell as well as it's platform counterparts would together likely, but this is just another excuse from lazy devs to do nothing new. Everyone's playing the blame game but no-one's prepared to try anything new.

HDTV?
Sound system?

PC wins the price war in the end. Everybody always forgets to include the other costs associated with a console.
you mean the one time cost of some 250 dollars for a simple 26 inch flat screen? and stereo system that most anyone should have already through a radio? cause thats my HDTV and sound system and i can still rival the biggest and best of them.

EDIT: also, the same could be said for PCs, so add that cost into it and tell me if its still less expensive.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. PC Gamers have only themselves to blame for this. Increase in piracy, coupled with the WoW model(...)
Being a PC gamer myself I find your generalization very insulting.
Obviously not all PC gamers are to blame, but you can't ignore the numbers. No one can compete with WoW in the MMO world, and rampant piracy deflates sales of every other genre. That's why the focus has shifted to console. You'll just have to live with it.

So you game by yourself in the dark? That kinda defeats half the fun of a console right there.

So what are you posting from right now, just outta curiousity? Most households still have a PC floating around so if you really want to get into price slashing schemes I could get really dickish with the real cost of converting your average household computer into a gaming rig. After all, the household computer was just floating around, right?

A pc monitor can be had for much less than your 26" tv btw. You can easily get one for half of what you paid or less. Hell, thanks to the packrat nature of tech heads, you could probably end up getting one for free.

And consoles are held back by shitty developers like Crytek.

Why don't they stop making eye candy and make something good? Something at least resembling a story that makes some kind of sense?

"Look at our photo-realism! Pay no attention to our lack of gameplay and story."
you obviously didn't actually play crysis, It has some pretty fricking awesome gameplay, and the story wasn't that bad either. They actually used the pretty damn pretty enviroments and tech to create a pretty damn fun game, and more than welcome break from the brown and gray of console shooters and WHERE'S MY WIFE!??!
Oh, you mean that nothing new whatsoever point and shoot at everything for no apparent reason story and same old rehashed gameplay? Yeah, I obviously didn't play it.

When people say "Crysis", they don't say "Hey isn't that the game with the great story and ground-breaking gameplay?!". They talk about how great it looked and how great their machine is for being able to run it.

Crysis sucked. Hard. It's eye candy.

I disagree

Hopefully OnLive does some good for PC gaming.
If onlive was only console, I wouldn't play it.
