The fact that shills are being bought against indie games, I mean. That's sad. When Activision pays people to hate on EA, or vice versa, I shed less than a tear, but when a big boy pays out to discredit one of the workers of the world I feel a bit like the devil is involved. Know what I mean?

The whole conspiracy (which you'll see immediately if you ever go to the Cube World Reddit) of these two criminals selling a demo and then running far away with a bag full of swag, doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.
Wow, the sheer irony of this is delicious.

The whole conspiracy (which you'll see immediately if you go to the Escapist forums) of these two companies selling games then paying people to badmouth them on anonymous forums on the internet, doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.

OT: Projects are started and become vapourware all the time on the internet. Email them and try to see if they're still working on it. If they don't respond you're best assuming they're dead.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just saw a surge of money come in, and thought they were better off abandoning the game entirely, wasting time and money on development. It's not hard to send a PSA on Twitter or Facebook is it? Even if it's just a quick tidbit of information, most would be content.

For a business the last thing you want is the customer feeling like they wasted their money, because there's a good chance they won't come back.

@WoW Killer: If they wanted to put some faith in their fanbase, posting a status update takes what, 10 seconds to write?

That sounds pretty bad, and yes when they sell something with promises of finishing it they are legally obligated to do so, this is not a matter of opinion it is a matter of consumer rights.
If devs don't want to be liable for such projects then they should make it clear they are only selling the initial piece and nothing more.

As for why it got quiet... who the hell knows, only having two devs on a project is extremely dangerous (especially partners), life happens and you might not have time to work for a while, perhaps they got burned out (for two people to do this entire game that is very likely), perhaps someone bought their game, they went on vacation, split up, got babes, moved, the workstation/apartment burned down, things got stolen, legal trouble,... a billion things can go wrong in ones life which is why you don't put all your eggs in a single basket.

Well, that's it. If it wasn't for the weird silence in the last months, I don't think a topic like whis would even exist. But, look at that, here we are.

Escalating Paypal dispute to a claim after nearly a week of no response from seller. For those Escapists here who feel were ripped off, I would suggest filing a dispute with Paypal as well.

I liked how you spammed nearly all the Facebook comments telling people to get refunds via PayPal. Fair enough if that floats your boat but as some have mentioned, he's been AWOL for longer periods in the past and many people are still pleased even if he never returns to the project. Think this response was out of order though;

Last thing I want is people fanboying over this and defending the business practices by Picroma.
Doesn't matter what you want, people are entitled to like whatever they choose and if I were a customer of Picroma the chances are I'd be quite happy with the product. Chill out a bit m0n.

I've got good news, I have been able to get a full refund back from Paypal with the dispute/claim I have filed about 2 days ago. I used the "Not as described/Missing parts" option on why and as well as describing the situation about the developers falling off the side of the Earth in terms of communication with their fanbase.

I am curious, Glaice, how much playtime did you get out of the game? Was it fun while you played it? What made you displeased with your purchase beyond their lack of communication?

Purchasing a game that is currently in development is always a risky thing to do. However, they clearly state what you are purchasing when in the process of buying the game, do they not? You should not have bought the game in the first place if you cannot deal with an incomplete product.

Seeing as the game provided me roughly 50 hours of entertainment, just messing around, I am pleased with my purchase. I will return to it in a year or two to see what progress has been made, if any. I did this same thing with Minecraft. I will do this same thing with many other games that I will likely enjoy. Starbound, to give an example.

Best of luck to you Mr. Glaice. But I advise to you, observing patience in the future when it comes to unfinished products. Otherwise you will be repeating this action more often than you don't. Which may or may not bite you in the butt.

I put in about 20 to 30 hours and did have fun but it was getting awkward using WASD, Space, E and surrounding keys since I grew up using arrows for movement and Enter for jump. I bought into the RMG + RPG element but saw the planned stuff and would think at least once a month or bimonthly new content or updates would occur but I was wrong on that.

If I purchase into an alpha or beta next time, it will be on Steam.
