Looks nice.

I'm hoping you can turn off that ugly, obscuring filter. I get what they're going for, but we clean up and remaster old films and animations for a reason.
That would detract from the "feel" they're going for though. There is a very specific timing used in the era of animation that they're going for. The film stock filters further enhances the age they want this game to resonate with in your head.

The same thing wanted the developer to try with the game "Back in 1995". The developer put filters which made the game look it is played in a old TV. It is really BAD for the eyes.
That why is wise to be an options if you want special filters or not.

IGN comments always make me want to gouge my eyes out.

I remember seeing this back in the day. Looks pretty dang cool. Nice fast pace, lots of enemies coming from different directions.

I'm just not sure about the sound design though. I know what they were going for, but it's just not quite right. I think the main character having audible footsteps and some kind of light sound on the finger gun would go a long way to making this feel better.

Not my cup of tea, but the old school look is definitely cute.

That filter is different. The video distortion they went for is very in Back in 1995 is meant to mimic second and 3rd generation vhs copies and even watching tapes back in the day it hurt my eyes much as it does in the games footage here.

Very different from the film stock effect in cup head which doesn't hurt the eye at all. It's an effect what was in very cartoon back in that time and even movies, before they went totally digital had similar film stock.

Very different effects indeed. I do agree that there should be an option though.

I agree, especially the lack of audible footsteps seemed really off to me. I'm guessing the sound design probably isn't finished yet though, so hopefully they'll add that stuff in.

I'm aware that there were cleaner looking animated features back then. My point was that stuff with Cuphead's particular style and timing were synonymous with that scratchy look and that's why they went for it.

Wow, thanks for sharing this. I love the animation and the music, but I'm not sure what to think of that type of level design though. I'll probably just get it for the style anyway.

Looks great I've always liked platform shooters so i'll get it if It comes on pc. The only gripes i have about is that the game looks too easy from the trailer.
