Nerdy scientists rejoice. Few pics shown. Thats about it for now lol. Much more possibly interesting facts, in 6 months to 10 years.

Awesome accomplishment.

Lets just hope we didn't piss off some alien overlord for throwing so many toys on his lawn.

If it had been the first probe to land on Mars, I'd be excited, but as it stands I'm just interested in its mission, not excited.
What about landing a big ass science laboratory robot on mars? Because that is what they're doing right now. You know, something that can look for life, resources and sweet ass science.
Yeah, but stuff has landed on Mars before.
It's not a milestone that holds any symbolic value.

If they find traces of life (or oil), I'll be excited. Until then, I can't be bothered to get excited over the landing and searching process.
Yeah but nothing this large (and mobile) have ever landed on another planet.

The MSL is the size (and weight) of a family hatchback. That alone makes it amazing. And then of course there's all the scientific instruments on it. Can't wait to see what Curiosity will find.

Yeah, since we get events like this every day of the week, it's nothing to get all excited about it.

C'mon man a lab just landed on a different planet!

Now can we give NASA more money? Because they should really have more money.

I watched the landing and even though I only found out about this on Cracked this morning, I did get really excited about the landing. I know there have been smaller probes that have landed on the surface but this one is a full on lab, nearly a freaking ton I think. The photos they showed were interesting and I look forward to seeing more. I can't wait to hear about what Curiosity finds.

That landing was more awesome than awesomeness! I was crying.

This may stand as proof that Aperture Science sent a couple of people to NASA.

"Must you send a rover to Mars in a new way?"

"Well, we can..."

I can't help but feel all this excitement some of you are exuding is incredibly forced, as if to compensate for the fact that NASA's space programs are not being funded as much as they were. I mean, relax guys. It's just Mars. Sure, this is an achievement, but the thing has barely gotten underway! Can we at least wait until it actually finds something cool before we piss our pants with glee?

Oh yeah, I think its pretty cool. I watched the launch last November, and I got to follow along with the landing (can't actually "watch" the landing, since there's no pictures).

I think the great thing about this is that they have a more general purpose lab on Curiosity than the past rovers, if I understand correctly. Be cool to see more discoveries come out with this mission.

Although, I still have a soft spot for the Phoenix Lander, since my name is on the DVD the Planetary Society sent up on it. Pretty cool stuff, all of it!

I think it's pretty cool, I'm not the MOST interested guy, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on it.

Mars is a big red ball of rust. Yeah, its an achievement for humanity, but it's kind of a boring place. Maybe if there were more aliens...
