Yep, I am one of those rare people who has never bought an Apple product aside from a Mac but only that. I never buy an apple product, because I seen Apple releasing a new version of the same product every year, Ipad 1, Ipad, 2, Ipad mini, now Ipad Air.

I understand Apple products sells like hotcakes, there very popular, but to me they feel the same rehashed product just with different sizes, and maybe some new additional features.

I want to know, to those who buy Apple products every year, what is it about the product that makes you buy them? Like say you had an Ipad 1, and then next year you got the Ipad 2.

Why? I'm not saying you can't, but what is it that you buy another version of it?

I might think of some reasons.

1. It might've been a gift to someone.
2. Your old Apple product broke or you don't care for it and decided to get the newer version.
3.You might prefer the size of said product.
4. It is more advanced and want to keep up to date.

So yeah, I wonder how come you rebuy what it looks like the same old stuff just with different sizes or some new features, if you already bought the previous version.

What? I'm failing to see the reasoning there. Can't you just buy one product and stick with it until it is completely obsolete? Just because Apple releases an updated version of the product every year doesn't mean you can't just buy one product and stick with it until it breaks, only paying for software upgrades if it is absolutely necessary. What leads you from "they release a new version every year" to "I'm not going to buy it"?

In any case, I don't buy Apple products a lot. Most of their stuff is rather expensive but nowhere near as powerful as the competitors' alternatives. The only real advantages they have are aesthetic, ease of use (which is pointless if you understand technology in the slightest), and longevity (which is rendered useless when you keep buying a new one every year like so many Apple fans do). While I've enjoyed pretty much every Apple product I've bought, I only buy them when I absolutely need an upgrade, and even then I only go with them if I have the money to spend on one of the products. Like I said, buying the "new" release every year renders one of Apple's major advantages useless, so I see absolutely no point in buying a new Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc. every year.

I once thought of getting the Ipad when it was released but I decided to wait till it was dropped in price, however Apple then went ahead and announced a successor next year. So I felt overwhelmed, I mean it's like when you got a new video game console after the last gen, but then you don't buy any of the new releases based on it. You rather wait for the successor like I do, it's based of my mentality of waiting a couple of years. Apple rushes in too quick.

I got a macbook a few years ago, and I'll tell you this: you don't want a mac if you like customization and general usefulness. I've had to replace broken chargers several times and that sucks. They always break a month after the warranty expires on them. Ipods are okay though, but again you sacrifice customizability to some degree.

My brother is a mac guy. I don't really see the appeal myself. His reasoning is that they're easy to use. At the same time, he refuses to learn anything about windows or linux. And for what they charge, I can build a much nicer rig, gaming ready or just something basic. Even offered to put one together for him, but he said no.
I feel like Apple tries to sell a lifestyle instead of a solid product. I guess that's why people joke about mac users being hipsters and almost cult-like.
