- Try keeping the console upright, in an open space to allow more air-flow
- Dont plug it into surge protector/multi-outlet boards, plug it straight into the wall socket so as not to restrict power flow
- Also if you have your adapter box sitting on carpet, slide a magazine underneath it to prevent static electricity
- I had always read standing it upright decreases air flow and that flat was optimal, though totally correct about not suffocating it in a cramped shelf. Might have gotten a mixed signal on that one.
- My 360 had a RROD because of a faulty surge protector, and Microsoft states specifically that you are indeed supposed to plug it right into the wall because it has a surge protect built into it. Right on the money with that statement.
- As a general rule of thumb, you don't want to leave anything right on the ground. If you're able to elevate it and avoid leaving it stuck on the ground, it's usually a good idea.
