Ok, help me out. I can usually only scrape together the time and funds to obtain and play one new game each month, if that. What's the best PC game out there right now? I'm hoping there's more to choose from than New Vegas or Black Ops.

dawn of war 2 is a good one if you like rts games, company of heroes is another good rts, so is red alert 3

Well, I liked Section 8 and Fallout 3. If it comes to that, though, I still play Fallout 3 pretty often.
Assassins Creed 2. Even with its disgusting DRM.
Also, take a look at gog.com. They have a lot of old classics for very little money. They even have the cult classic Psychonauts, Farcry 1, Baldours Gate and Duke Nukem 3D.

For Singleplayer, Metro 2033 is pretty solid
Always got Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl as well, provided you supplement it with the 2010 Complete mod.
Lot of people seem to like Bad Company 2's Multiplayer as well. I'm not one of them, but you could check that out.
Could look into Arkham Asylum as well.
I'm not really sure how much further back in time you want me to go though. I mean, I could probably mention awesome games from as far back as 1998 if that works for you...
