Yes, if you are able to customize your character or weapons, the game becomes much more fun.

that depends how deep the customization goes, and if it actually promotes individuality. there are games that let you make a custom guy and then coat him in generic armor.

if i was able to make custom armor/weps/person that would be great, but if said armor/guy/weps actually affects things other than being 'cool', that's just phakinsupah!
(sry i'm on my work computer. expletives get me fired.)

i think the closest anyone has come to that is the Armored Core series. especially AC4.

customisation is an excellent aspect to any game. the only time it's bad is when it just gives you a selection of 3 male faces and 3 girl faces none of which are particularily impressive. I like it when you can completely sculpt the face and body from scratch (apart from height and you can't you can't work out exactly the height of the person so you estimate and you end up with an abnormally stumpy/langky character) my dream RPG would be something like mass affect or KOTOR with that star-trek starship designer game implimented into it.

Yh customization is good to an extent. But when it gets over used it just gets annoying. And there's a fine line between good and annoying

I think customisation is great. Not only the body, but the accesories, I mean. Think of Guild Wars: when you create a character, you pick profession and gender, along with skin tone, height, 6-15 different faces, 8-20ish different hairstyles. Then you buy your armour, for which skins aren't tied to stats, so you could have max-level armour that looks like beginner's armor. You mix and match armour sets as you desire, and dye them whichever way you like them. Add to that all the joke/disguise armours (spectacles, woad, etc) and a minipet, and you've got yourself one unique character.

And user-generated content.
Customization of cars is awesome. Customization of real-life guns is dumb. Creation of your own cars is f'real awesome.

Customization, I think, is important for games with an RPG element.
Creating your character to be as beautiful or ugly as you want, now that's fun.
I think customization in Mass Effect was pretty top notch as well as Neverwinter Nights 2.

I love customization. lol
any game with as much customization as say, Armored core 2 can get my attention. I went crazy with games like Soul Calibur IV and Oblivion. :]

I must admit I'm a total customisation whore. I love games where you can basically put your own stamp on a character and make it unique or at least different to everyone else's. This is partially the reason why I will more than likely be purchasing Too Human; because I thought the customisation in the demo was pretty good, so the full game should be even better.

I'm also a total sucker for customization. This is particularly true in RPGs and shooters. I love to personalize my character or weapons. However, I often find that games just don't have enough options sometimes. I think the best at this are games like Armored Core and Chromehounds, even if I don't play them anymore.

When it comes to shooters, I still long for a game that lets me do this to my weapons: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/90/SOPMOD_2-2005.jpg
Games like Call of Duty 4, Rainbow Six Vegas/2, and MGS4 are a start, but I want MORE dammit! I want to take an M4 and make it look like something from a sci-fi movie because there is so much shit on it!

I do like being able to customize my guns in most realistic shooters. But I do wish that some games would take it to the next level. CoD4 and RB6:Vegas2 did pretty cool jobs, but I read and watch shows about modern military weapons and I know that it could be way more kickass.

I do think that variety can be an acceptable substitute for customization (ie Time Splitters)

You could not carry that shit unless you are able to bench Manhattan.
Well duh, of course you can't have ALL of that stuff on a single rifle at one time. Merely, I wish someone would make a shooter that gave me a huge amount of options for weapons customization, and the ability to put more than one or two attachments on at a single time. I've seen soldiers with M4s that have five or so attachments on at once, but no game to my knowledge gives you that degree of weapons customization, nor the long list of options at that link I posted.

Im waiting for a game that takes customization to a completely new extent of gaming where u can do anything, sorta a cross, 25% guild wars (customization), 45% story line of oblivion (Do anything only BIGGER!) 25% and 30% Online gaming. The greatest game ever in my books, and ill tell u people its a small book.!.

Completely agree. I'm pretty sure that you can stick a recoil control handle on more guns than an LMG. I would also want to see games include a lot more variety of weapons, as well as making these weapons balance in some fashion and to have somewhat realistic stats as far as capability of real-world weapons.
