I know it's been said in this thread before, but I believe it bears mentioning again. I don't see the deal with cyberbullying. It doesn't equate to being bullied in real life.
Yes, because it is so terribly hard to find out someone's mobile number or someone's facebook/myspace account in Highschool. Do only incredibly close and trusted friends know your phone number? I doubt it. Do only incredibly close and trusted friends know your facebook account? Once again, I doubt it.CODE-D said:I cant sympathize with those who are "cyberbullied" it doesnt seem that bad. Maybe you shouldnt be giving out your personal info to so many people?
Not trying to cause a problem or anything, but from my point of view, this is a bit of a silly statement, some people can't escape it really. I remember, not but a few years ago, in my time at secondary school, I was a victim to bullying, there were a few people, and If they saw me around, they'd follow me around town, even wait for me outside my house, it was the same month I lost my father to cancer, It really felt unbearable, so no, sometimes you can't escape it, bullying can affect you, and If there's a few people involved, I'm pretty sure that tactic wouldn't work, and if you were in that situation, you wouldn't. Sure, I didn't go to the extreme of suicide, but for some people, that may seem like the last resort to them, it can emotionally affect people, make them feel worthless. Sure, every kid get's picked on, but I gotta be honest, I think with more modern day developments, it's getting worse, people are finding new ways to pick on people, and different ways of persisting.Fbuh said:The whole idea of people committing suicide becasue of bullies always got on my nerves. actually yeah, maybe cause i dont throw my personal info around willy nilly and i give it to responsible people. Still, people going out of their way to insult me online wouldnt bother me, it be kinda funny actually.SillyBear said:Yes, because it is so terribly hard to find out someone's mobile number or someone's facebook/myspace account in Highschool. And considering the fact so many cases of bullying involving "friends" betraying the victim, what gives you the right to feel superior? All it takes is one "close friend" thinking you're a loser all of a sudden.CODE-D said:actually yeah, maybe cause i dont throw my personal info around willy nilly and i give it to responsible people. In addition to the very basic and important factors that Hobhodo mentioned, punching out your tormentor is not an option in the US. They have zero tolerance policies on violence, which are enforced -- meaning, even if it's completely in self defense, one will get punished for fighting. Often, it even goes beyond the school -- high school students can and will get in legal trouble for having a fist fight. The US is a pretty terrible place to get bullied, and a great place to be a bully.Hobohodo said:Not trying to cause a problem or anything, but from my point of view, this is a bit of a silly statement, some people can't escape it really. You may think it's silly, but, what about people who's details are leaked on the internet, and are constantly harassed by different people who access these details, can you avoid it then? Your not exactly going to have the money to move house.
Back on topic, Cyberbullying is quite a big problem nowadays, it's a very real thing, and escaping? I don't think so, you can say whatever you like, but most of our lives revolve around the internet nowadays, using social network sites to organize things, emailing for transferring work etc. I don't think a movie will do anything, I fail too see many people waiting too see this, because they will probably over dramatize different situations, and make it almost unwatchable.
what the.....superior? calm down mate. If someone bullies you, just dont let it bother you and do the smart thing and sue their ass.(prank calls are a felony in most states afterall)SillyBear said:And considering the fact so many cases of bullying involving "friends" betraying the victim, what gives you the right to feel superior? There is a million ways someone in a high school can get someone else's number or facebook details.
