And Lawmakers pass legislation requiring Parental Protection on game console. A step that Game console makers already have. If parents would just learn too read the instruction Manuel BEFORE giving the child the Xbox.

In Ten years when most of the people on this website has kids. This will not be a problem because everyone here already knows about these features.

How did he wrack up that much? Was he buying whole games? Repeatedly? Do you have to keep paying to play these games? That much, in that amount of time, you'd have to what, buy a quarter of the store? Sounds like there's more happening here than we realize.

It sounds to me like this kid really DID know he was spending money, and when he was confronted he lied about it to avoid blame. Now the father either blindly trust his kid or he hopes to get some benefit out of blaming Microsoft. This is not Microsoft's fault. It is the parent's lack of attention and/or failure to use the previously mentioned systems in place to avoid this. However, I will say, Microsoft was smart not to mention that he shouldn't have been play M-rated games, because if they do, they are going to spark a lot of controversy.

Yes its the kids fault and not MS. But can you make one off payments on XBL with a credit card? Im sure it automatically stores it. Either way, having a password to enter before any purchase would be a simple addition that would stop MS getting a lot of these types of stories.
