Inspired by a particular post on the "If you could bring any fictional character to life..." thread.
So basically, I'm sure all of us, or at least a lot of us, have read Phillip Pullman's excellent His Dark Materials trilogy. In the universe (well, one of the universes) that the series takes place in, the souls of humans are represented by a 'daemon', which takes the form of an animal. Daemons can change forms to any animal they wish when children, but when you reach puberty your daemon changes much less, and settles on a single form, losing it's shape-shifting ability, when you become an adult. Daemons also take the gender opposite to you, except in certain cases (Word of God claims that those whose daemon are the same gender as their human are usually homosexual or bisexual). And your daemon cannot travel more than a few metres away from you without great physical pain.
So what is this thread about? Quite simply I want to see what your daemons would be. Post what you think your daemon would be, and why. What aspect of your personality would your daemon represent? For example, those of a subservient nature would have a dog as their daemon. Those who are free to do as they wish might have some sort of bird, or a dolphin. Bear in mind your daemon may also affect your lifestyle (for example, those with a dolphin or a fish would be forced to live near water).
As for me, I'm very independent and strong willed. I'm also quite cunning. So I would probably have a wolf or a fox, which would highlight the cunning part and my independence.
So what would you all be?
EDIT: Changed my mind, my daemon would more than likely be a cat
EDIT 2: Also, come up with a unique and inventive name for him/her. I'd call mine Luna...
