I never understood the whole "breaking your piggy bank" thing. Is it really so hard to pull the plug out and grab your money?

Old-style piggy banks didn't used to have a plug in the bottom - they were all-or-nothing things. It meant that the kids actually saved their money instead of continually just taking it out again...
