Ok, what is with these creepy dolls... and will they be available for purchase in the escapist store?
I wouldn't be surprised to see one auctioned off during the Desert Bus benefit.

Eh, today at school we dropped actual pumpkins from a fireman ladder, so this was a little boring in comparison. I love physics.

I just noticed something in this video. Do you do a high-speed recording of the audio, or just slow down normally-recorded audio?

Come to think of it, I've never heard of a high-speed microphone, or the like.
High speed microphone would be essentially sampling at a higher rate I guess. I don't think it's as hard to do well as it is with video.

Also, creepy doll... O_O
Microphones output a constant analog signal, which is converted into samples when it's recorded digitally. Current sample rates top out around 192khz, which is 4x what digital camera systems generally input (48khz). The high sample rate recording systems are generally expensive, or at least time consuming to set up since it has to be synced with the video in post.

That said, high sample rates are helpful, but high quality software is much more useful when it comes to making sound seem slower than real time. A simulated audio stretch is usually more convincing than an actual one. More often than not, slowed-down audio is supplemented with additional noises and effects that aren't a part of the original recording when you see it in Hollywood movies as well.

Just don't drop the creepy figurine that Kathleen got from the Creepy Doll Emporium. It's Graham's Favorite!

As I said in the LLR thread for today's episode, kill those dolls with holy fire!

I'm guessing as everyone has said already, either by friday or monday we're going to see a real live pumpkin get smashed in many juicy bits. :D

I can't be the only one who thought it kinda looked like the creepy doll was heading for the camera...
Trust me, you're not. I thought they were gonna do a screamer or something.

Half the reason I watch these is to listen to the music, lol.

It was actually, you can see it blinking as Paul drops it.
It just blinks so slowly that you can't see it in high-speed.

Pretty clever that the first Halloween themed item was item 0013. Nicely done.

Also, congratulations on raising the price of those creepy dolls to outers space. I must have one. Two, even.
