Can we please stop dignifying these cunts? Every word that they write is an outright uninformed lie created for the illiterate masses.

Seriously, the Escapist is always commenting on the stuff the British press says. Our press is ultimately stupid, you're making us all look bad!
Sure, your press may be stupid, but it will never out stupefy Australia's government....

But seriously, this may be because I just spent the last hour or so watching Extra Credits, but, people really need to understand that games aren't just tools made by people as entertainment...
Sure, sometimes they push the boundaries sometimes, but, that's what we, the gaming community as a whole, have to do...

I mean, most games now-a-days won't even get noticed unless they get some view in the spotlight from the masses...

Dragon Age made it in with the in-game sex...
Fable for much of the same...
Mass Effect too...

Modern Warfare 2 for the airport shoot-out...
GTA: San Andreas for basically everything..
Left 4 Dead 2 for being too violent (at least in my country anyway)

The point I'm trying to make, and will most likely be avoided since I'm a no-body, is that games need to be seen as an alternative to what could possibly happen...

Sure, it's not likely, but at the end of the day, if the world did end up having world war 3 and New York/London/(WHEREVER) got attacked, that is most likely what it'd look like... Just because it's controversial doesn't mean it can't be shown.... Or at least thought of...

Daily Mail. Credibility of the article = 0. I'm not gonna grant them any by actually discussing this.

It's the Daily Mail, anyone who cares what it says is not worth bothering with...

For those of you with no prior knowledge of the Mail; imagine if Fox News had a newspaper, then make it twice as reactionary, and half as willing to get their facts straight.

By the way, I thought people would like to see their reviews.

This is hilarious, but at the same time it's just harrowing that people would believe this.

OT: I quite like the Daily Mail. It soaks up spills better than the leading brand, although it's a little rough when I wipe my bottom.

My first post on this website would be about the Daily Mail, wouldn't it. I could harp on about it being less of a newspaper and more a collection of opinionated tripe by a bunch of idiots, but,for the sake of being different, I will say that MW 3 had better aproach this carefully. 'No Russian' was notorious, so anything resembling a real-world terroist event will likely make everyone at Fox and Daily Mail take to the streets.
Not that they shouldn't do it. I think it's about time people address these issues, regardless of medium.

I can't believed someone just described a Modern Warfare game as 'hyper-real'. I hope I don't injure myself from falling over with laughter...

The Daily Fail are trolls. TROLLS. I could piss better news than they could write.
We're playing into their hands by giving them attention, and I know I'm doing it by getting angry but they should really be cancelled. Everyone with two or more braincells know what a joke they are. Even the comments basically say, 'Thanks for telling me about this game, now I'll pre-order it. Thanks for the free publicity!'

To be honest, I think it's them that can't distinguish the difference between reality and fantasy, not the gamers who play this game and then will proceed to act out what they have just done. It's a game, a made-up game and if they're too fucking thick in the head to realise that, they shouldn't be reporting on it.

At least that scumbag Keith Vaz hasn't weighted in yet. Then again he'd be more concerned about the Police being shown in a positive light in it.

1. Daily Mail is an awful awful newspaper under the thumb of a corporate tyrant and spouts nothing but fear and far conservative blather.

2. No-one in Britain is really that het up about 7/7. The day it happened people's thoughts quickly turned to mild nuisance of the buses being a bit late. Britain doesn't get worked up about stuff. IT wasn't a nice thing and there were families who have had to cope with a terrible loss but we've seen worse and are too apathetic and up-tight to get into the "terror" part of terrorism

Holy crap! THAT'S the Daily Mail?! I recognize it! As an American who visited Ireland for a week, I saw this newspaper in a McDonald's and I genuinely thought that it was a satirical paper, like "The Onion," but in print.

The fact that this markets itself as legitimate journalism is baffling... Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if someone who had never been exposed to Fox News tuned in to Glenn Beck and thought he was being satirical.

The fact that there is a solid economic market for these sorts of extreme right-wing alarmist "journalism" is beyond me.

Ungh, I don't wanna talk about this anymore.

Fuck the daily mail, no-one with half a brain gives two shits what they say about anything, least of all videogames.

If they want to give Call of Duty extra publicity and help activision sell more copies to children, then let them, the idiots.

As an Englishman, I feel perfectly in my place to issue the following statement,

Nobody thinks it's like 7/7. Most of us didn't even remember the bombings until you just mentioned them again. It's a game. Get over yourselves.

And though I do not claim to speak for everybody in England, I'm fairly sure that covers the vast majority.

Ah, the Daily Mail prints more reactionary sensationalist bullshit, and the world keeps turning.

Someone show these people the film Four Lions.
I would love to see the average Daily Mail reader's response to that film, or to any of the episodes of Brass Eye, the spoof documentary series Chris Morris did back in the 90s.
I'm pretty sure the response of the `average Daily Mail reader' was the reason Brass Eye got cancelled in the first place.

7/7 is a big thing to newspapers in London. The rest of the UK doesn't give much of a toss (beyond, naturally, humane sympathies and so on). Tabloids wanted us to have our own 9/11 so they could satisfy their pornographic obsession with violent and destructive tales for years to come.

But even if it was our 9/11, so what? The MW3 trailer shows a train being hurled from the rails in some kind of military undertaking. There are no civilians around, no sign of anyone being hurt.

It never made me think of 7/7, I barely think of 7/7, and I don't give a toss what the Daily Mail thinks...

The Daily Mail thinks this is bad? Just you wait until they find out their are (gasp!) Muslims in the game!

I don't know if there are but it would be brilliant to see their reaction to a Muslim SAS member!
