Those reviews read like they were made by a middle school student. Makes me curious what the age limits for labor are in the UK. *:And it would seem I am not the only one who sees that.

Aside from them telling us damn near nothing about the actual games, it sounds like they were written by a menstruating tween.
Actually it was written by this lady

Writing for the Daily Mail about how chilling games are...

Her wisdom is shown in her comment on
..in commenting on the Fall of the Berlin Wall, she suggested that a major benefit would be that East Germans would have a better choice of shops in the West...
In 2006, she appeared in Celebrity Fit Club. She was initially made team captain but was later demoted for walking off on her team. It was then revealed that she received Adjustable gastric banding surgery before appearing on the show, which provoked much press outrage.
This was also after selling her dieting tips to the Daily Fail, where she lost a pound over 2 months dieting.

She also appears in an advert for "Post Gold For Cash", so we can be sure she's a legitimate journalist.

She is, without doubt, a crass media parasite trading her views for whatever is relevant to today. She is feeding off the Daily Fail, which itself is full of shit, so I believe I'm quite within my rights to call her a coprophage, or shit-eater.

Her one note of brightness is that she was once on the same programme as Roland Rat. And that's the best I can say for her; The lying, cheating harpy.

Yes, Modern Warfare 3 is in poor taste. I mean, look at Battlefield 3! Those are some good graphics. It's in such poor taste to try to seem like the "end of the world" war simulator when your explosions look like they belong in a low-budget game.

In all seriousness, the MW3 trailer was in poor taste from my point of view because the only point of playing the new CoD's is to see crazy good looking stuff. And it looks the same as MW2. Good in some places (nice cars guys) bad in lots of places. (ugly walls, explosions, water) If they adjusted their art style to account for it, it would look fine, but no, hyperealism is the way to go. : (

As a Londoner, 7/7 was the first thing that I thought of when I saw the trailer and the exploding tube train, and that's a fear reaction I don't think you can get away from. That the Daily Mail is running with this should be no surprise to anyone: it's an easy emotional note to play on.

A more sensible and balanced view (naturally) is in the Guardian today:

(although *spoiler warning*, it is basically a walkthrough of a couple of the levels)

Stop. Picking. British. Newspapers. Seriously, the Escapist is always commenting on the stuff the British press says. Our press is ultimately stupid, you're making us all look bad!

That being said, I did intially think much of the same thing when I watched the trailer. It just seemed a little strange that they're specifically target the rail system and the big red London buses considering the attacks.
I thinks it's more that those papers are making you look bad... As for red buses and an underground, they're just to things that are in London, and an underground would actually be a fairly strategic asset.

As for the game the only thing that offends me is that Dublin was over-looked. Ok, there's no "E" that can be replaced with a "3", but still.

I know this doesn't reference anything you quoted me for, but... I have to point out that whilst there isn't an "E" in Dublin, there most certainly is in Ireland.

The Daily Mail pointed to sections from the recently released Modern Warfare 3 trailer, which showed an Underground train derailed by a pickup truck, and a series of masked soldiers firing on an unmarked vehicle, calling them a "chilling echo" of the 2005 attacks.
You know, I'm pretty sure that didn't happen on 7/7. Oh Daily Mail, you crazy sons of bitches.

How long until they say it gives you cancer? Taking all bets!

Everyone who reads the Daily Mail is a moron.

I think I'll start a thread to this effect as I'm so sure I am right.

From my American perspective, the rail and bus systems are very distinguishing elements of London along with Big Ben.
Perhaps that was just so people had context where they were? (Despite it saying at the start of the clip)

1. Daily Mail is an awful awful newspaper under the thumb of a corporate tyrant and spouts nothing but fear and far conservative blather.

2. No-one in Britain is really that het up about 7/7. The day it happened people's thoughts quickly turned to mild nuisance of the buses being a bit late. Britain doesn't get worked up about stuff. IT wasn't a nice thing and there were families who have had to cope with a terrible loss but we've seen worse and are too apathetic and up-tight to get into the "terror" part of terrorism
You have no idea how many here in the US wish those who get uptight over the World Trade Center being mentioned like its bad karma would just go fly a kite in the bermuda triangle. Yes, what happened on 9/11/01 was a tragedy. But it is about time people grew up and learned to move on. Dwelling on disaster and terrorism does nothing good for the human psyche.
But the british have had almost 2000 years as a nation to grow up(still going strong, from what I see, too). Unfortunately the US is still very, very young. Which makes me sick when some politico acts like we know better.
Addendum: That first bit sounds a lot like Fox News. So I know your pain.
In fairness to you, 7/7 was a whole magnitude smaller and terrorists have been bombing us since forever. Al-Qaeda have nothing on the Irish :D

But it's very sad that the short term gain for newspapers and politicians is always to hype it up

Er, it's the Daily Mail - unless the story involves Princess Diana, the evils of immigrants or the price of houses it's completely irrelevant.

OT: speaking as someone who was using the tube on that morning in 2005 I have no problem with MW3 on that level. If anything, the idea of trying to stop such an attack might be a positive element as a result of the reality, not a negative one. For example, a game where you were part of some commando unit trying to stop the 9/11 attacks would all the more powerful because we know how horrible the price of failure was.

Furthermore, if that were a trailer for a movie, we wouldn't even be having this debate; double standards for the loose.

The Daily Mail, huh?.. Well, if you give a first shit about what they write, you wouldn't be on this forum, I read a few of their articles, and I find it disturbing that some people in this world actually define it as "journalism" when it is obviously idiocy in writing from scared mums who put too much sun-lotion on their children. For the record, I don't like those mums.

However the gametrailer does offend me, there is a perfect "E" in "Denmark" but do they care to make Copenhagen into a crazy battlefield?

Of course not, who gives a shit.. except me.

Would be fun to see a russian sniper hiding behind the statue of the Little Mermaid, taking pop-shots at our not-very-beloved-nor-respected "Home Guard".

"Oh putting trains in london how could they have done that not alot of london you can not go half a mile without being 100 meters of a train"

The thing is because Call of duty is now so popular what ever they are doing the media are going to jump on it with a handful of biased judgement and the other hand holding the poll of ignorance.

If that trailer is "ultra-violent",then the movies/games that have gore in them which I play should be banned to the far side of Mars.

On a side note,I really liked that some of the "action" is happening in other countries other than US/UK.All in all a decent trailer.
