Now if any of you watched the super bowl you may have seen some of the commercials. Some were pretty funny but the one involving Justin Bieber was the best. He pretty much made fun of himself, so for those of you who didn't get to see it here it is.

Also for discussion, who is someone you hated but then did something that made you think, they aren't as bad as you thought.

Also thats him in the beard at the end.

Wouldn't you know it, people in the media spotlight are as human as the rest of us.

I dunno why people hate his so much, they make fun of him for his stupid music....BUT, if you were offered millions upon millions to dance around like a fairy, wouldn't you?

Yeah I saw him on the Daily Show a few days ago, he's actually not that bad, he seems willing to take the piss out of himself which is a nice trait for any celebrity.
I don't like him as a singer, but he's fine otherwise.

I'm happy for him.
He's certainly had his "Diva" moments. But it seems he may have matured enough to stop taking himself so seriously.

Its always good to see someone who has seemingly avoided the self absorbed persona that often comes with fame and can actually laugh at themselves.

Just because you dislike something that a person does, doesn't mean you should dislike the person. While I do hate the capitalist mentality of producing culture that is designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator in the sole intrest of their own greed instead of an honest expression of their feelings as an art-form, I do not despise them as people for I am not the judge of what is human and what is not.

This has to help, if he show that he's human and not just an automaton designed by Disney to dampen teenage girls and empty parent's back accounts, the hate will lessen. That ad was a good start, and of course sharing air time with Ozzy can't hurt. I know Ozzy's turned into a parody of himself, but somehow he's held onto his cool in my eyes, despite looking like he's got Alzheimer's and Parkinson's at once.

Of course anyone 'manufactured' and boy/girl band-like is never going to get too much respect, as it's felt you're just following a script written by the money guys in the background.

However it IS possible to shake off early images and start again, Mark Wahlberg was just a New Kid on the Block at one point, now he's a Hollywood actor and hardly anyone thinks of him as a teen jiggling his pecs for young girls to a beat.

In the end, Bieber is gonna be yesterdays news in a year or two at the most, and he'll either have to move on and evolve, or retire at 16 and just enjoy his cash. Either way, he'll be less irritating.

With Bieber my reasoning is the same as with religion: "It's not X I have a problem with, it's Xs fanclub I can't stand." I don't care much about his music as I personally think he is just another generic pop music singer... but what annoys me is not him or his music, it's the darn fans that seem to shriek just to destroy eardrums everytime he is mentioned.

Sure, that's where lots of money in the music industry comes from, but still, annoying as hell. But all the hate for Bieber is starting to get as annoying. I can't seem to watch a single music related vid on YouTube without Bieberbashing voted as the top comment or something like that.

OT: Nice spot, and well, way to make fun of yourself.

This guy has a point also, he might not even like what he's doing, but knows a couple of years of being mocked for looking and sounding like a girl means financial stability for him, his family and friends for life, and also a never ending supply of bo- I mean girls falling into his lap because he was famous.

(Cheap shot I know, and he could be gay, I'm not, but I'd pretend to be a gay icon for $10 million a year for a couple of years, hell I'd do it for a lot less)

I don't think it's Bieber himself most people hate but what he represents i.e. the low standard of pop music in today's industry.

Heh, you respect him for being able to take the piss out on himself, little do you realise nothing he does or says is his choice anymore... If his manager thinks he needs more publicity he'll tell him to act gay, and he'll probably do it. Liking him because someone told him its in his best interest to do this add and take the piss out on himself is stupid. Like someone with a stronger will and who has a shred of self-respect/dignity.

I remember seeing James Blunt on Top Gear, and he was dead on, before that I, like pretty much all other guys in the U.K. thought he was a bit of a prick, but he came across really well, he knew that his song had annoyed a lot of people and took Clarksons insults with a smile and even made jokes at his own expense.

Just a minute... The Superbowl already happened? So the entire Superbowl has happened already and I didn't even notice? My apathy for our national sport has reached a new high I guess.

The problem does not lie in Bieber, but in what he represents. You could put any adolescent kid in the same situation and they would draw just as much ire.

I believe that the problem lie more in the ridiculous amount of money entertainers make in this day and age. They make millions of dollars a year for whatever talent they were just naturally born with while the majority of adults have to work their asses off day in and day out with one, two, even three jobs, which are all likely to be complete hell holes, just to make ends meet. At the end of those particularly long days, we come home to kids who generally hate us, but idolize these fucktards who have never, and will never, truly realize what it's like to work until your bones are sore.

Same reason most of us feel an internal joy when overpaid sports stars get injured or otherwise bad stuff happens to rich people.

And don't fall for the apparent "self-deprecating" sense of humor and remarks on talk shows. It's carefully planned image-shaping to increase marketability.

*and oh yeah, the shit I've been through, now that could be a movie. what the fuck has an over-privileged teenager seriously done that could constitute a feature film?

Yup, nice to see stars making fun of themselves.

I gotta say it made me smile! Good job, Bieber. (Never thought I'd say that.)

Hating Bieber for making money is like hating a lottery winner for winning. Why should I dislike someone for getting lucky? This makes even less sense when you recognize that Bieber is actually working for said money.

If you're going to hate anyone for Bieber, it should be the fans. And even then, it's hard to hate on 13 year old girls for their music choices.

In any case, if he manages to stick around, then he should get props. I heard the Jonas Brothers had to cancel their summer tour due to lack of interest. Three years ago, when Bieber wasn't on anyone's radar, The Jonai were all you ever heard about.

Not trying to pick on you here, but you're getting Donnie Wahlberg and Mark Wahlberg mixed up. Mark was DJ Marky Mark, from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - not really a boy band, but a hip hop band. He was considered a rapper, and they have a little more cred than boy band members.

It would be better to compare Bieber to Justin Timberlake.
