Alternatively show them an older Disney movie, like... Treasure Planet maybe?
Out of over 70 years of Disney movies, Treasure Planet is not only "an older" one but also the best one you can recommend?

Show them Dumbo, Peter Pan, The Sword in the Stone, the Jungle Book, Aristocats, Lady and the Tramp, or maybe even the Little Mermaid or Aladdin. Or Pixar, as some of the others said.
Of course there's more. I just put down the first thing that came to mind.

Sit them down with Pixar. Go with a Toy Story double-bill, or Wall-E.

But any one of their films are good. Most are downright excellent, the only one I would mark as just good is Cars, because to me it's very audience-specific. Still a fun film mind.

Lion King, Aladdin, Tarzan or Mulan are also excellent films to put on. I can gladly watch them at the age of 20. That said, being a university student kind of tweeks you brain to the maturity of a 7 year old when it comes to kids shows.

You could just, you know, suck it up. I've seen the first two High School Musical movies. (Due to a situation similar to yours) They're an hour and a half. You can easily make it. Just bring an MP3 player, and close your eyes for some of it.

Or, even try to enjoy it. They are tolerable if you aren't already in a hateful mindset.

Or bring an alternative like others are suggesting.

And of course, new Disney is far worse, just look at Disney Channel. Now it's all live action crap, as opposed to loveable cartoons.

Suggest another disney film? Or Pixar?

im 19 and i will watch WALL.E over and over and over.
You do know that Pixar movies are meant for everyone right? There's no such thing as a movie intended for children from Pixar. Maybe some from Dreamworks.

Either show them a Pixar film or an older Disney film.

The same thing is happening to cartoons, when I was little I watched cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, Scooby-Doo, and all of those older cartoons. Now all I see is disturbing looking cartoons. There was even a new Tom and Jerry cartoon with people who are talking all the time, even Tom and Jerry talked.

For the most part, Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickalodeon have all gone to shit.
That is exactly what I was thinking, all of these kid shows are horrible now.

Here's what I think:
I think Walt Disney had his head frozen and kept in a containment chamber in case disney ever lost what made it good. His head will be unfrozen and go on a mission. His frozen head will scuttle around on a robot spider body with rocket jets, flamethrowers, lasers and a face shredder, and he will singlehandedly murder every tween star disney has made. He will then rebuild disney into its former glory and vaporize anyone who opposes him.

[HEADING=3] AND IT WILL BE AWESOME.[/HEADING]

I agree, disney didn't suk unitl recently. Maybe you should tell them TV is bad for them and play a board game. Or you can hope that the story I just posted happens. I hope it does.

Wow, I was in the exact same situation myself! I tell you what you've got to do.

Pixar.

Kids love pixar, no matter how much they love that tween stuff, Pixar still reigns supreme. I'd be very surprised if you pulled out Toy Story or The Incredibles and they didn't want to watch it. And, they're very good films in their own right, so you don't have to subject yourself to crap!

Well, it might not work for you, but it did work for me. They were getting me to watch that Hannah Montana show thing, and I asked them "How many times have you seen that? Would you like to see something new?" because I knew they hadn't seen Finding Nemo. So I put that on. Them happy, me happy.

But yes, Disney films these days (Excepting the mighty Pixar) are going downhill, fast. I doubt we'll be seeing another Jungle Book or Fantasia level of quality for quite some time.
Exactly what he said, show them a Pixar movie and they will love it. I mean if there exists a child who doesn't love Wall-e or Toy Story or Monsters Inc then I have yet to meet them.
The beauty about Pixar is that despite earning the kiddy label it's actually the kind of movie that's fun for everyone and can be enjoyed by all audiences.
So yes, I recommend Pixar.

'Tangled' (upcoming badly-named adaptation of Rapunzel) is meant to have an absolutely amazing art style, so I have faith in Disney's traditional animation. 10 bucks it also ends up in Kingdom Hearts III...

I never had that problem, as the little munchkin I was often left in charge of was only two, and didn't know those 'films' existed (and I certainly wasn't going to play them for her, heh). Rather than turn on programming that toddlers would doubtless enjoy but which drive anyone of adult age insane, I would put in Pinky and the Brain or The Dinosaurs instead - she was happy because "oh look at the silly cartoon mice/puppets!" and I was happy because we bought those shows so we (a family consisting entirely of adults) could watch them by ourselves.

I have the exact same problem when I babysit a friends little girl, except substitue Disney for Mattel. The little has every single Babie movie and insists we watch them every .. single .. time! *Rage* I have started weaning her on to the JLU cartoons and Batman Animated series though.
