Nate finished well before Abby, and had the horses ready to move by the time she returned with the laden mule. They set out right away, starting off east out of Carson City and then bearing south, preparing to make a curve that would eventually lead them back north, while hopefully avoiding most of the trouble spots.

The herd was easy to drive, thanks to the well-trained horses that they rode. They were making good time and it looked like an easy trip. Nate had inquired as to what towns may lay off the main trail, so that they could make a plan to stop along the way and resupply as necessary.

The day was getting on when Nate turned to Abby, "I think the first town we'll hit is Hope Falls. The land's not too flat, but it seems like we'll have a pretty easy time of it, as long as the weather holds."

Abby nodded and cast an experienced eye to the sky, "It will for now."

Nate looked thoughtfully at one of the blond mares and said, "Let's keep an eye on her. She's lagging back just a tiny bit."

I still tried to keep the precise position of Hope Falls comfortably ambiguous, but Hope Falls is somewhere inbetween 180 and 230 miles away from Carson as established by my post.

Ethan stared in wonder at the Shiny, red train. Don't act like wide eyed hick!, he thought too himself, and turned too the man with the southner accent. "jumping? how fast will the train be going?" so what if it is? it' can't be more painful than falling from a horse. "umm...sure, jumping sounds fine" this was the beginning of a real adventure, he thought too himself. he can't be afraid of a little fall. "umm, I hate too ask, but will you being staying in hope falls for a while? there are a few things I need to take care of"

OUT!
Due to the fact that he can't get off of WoW to make a post because, to quote him, he is in a WoW Coma. I'm sick of people not posting or contributing anything to the thread. If you have a liable excuse to not post I'm fine with that but a WoW Addiction is not one of those things, and quite frankly I find this pathetic.

I PMed him multiple times about this and he has decided he will not even post an end to his character, so I'm doing it for him in the next story update.

My apologies for the time wasted because of his "meetings".

John stayed in the bar for a little while after the meeting. Why was the local priest a scout with him. If anything the boy will just slow him down. Besides Jon won't take stealing from indians. Even if the supplies are mine to begin with.

John stood up took out his Handgun. Most of the ammo was wasted last night trying to stop that guy. John decided that he should get some more ammo before leaving. Maybe since he is part of the scout team they will give him a discount or free supplies. John walked out of the bar and into the general store hoping they sell bullets.

John walked into the store and looked around. He could not find any bullets but hopes his contact will supply him with some in exchange for some of the guns."Excuse me shopkeep but is your emplorer around here." that shop keep looked up and replied "He is in the back. you can go see him if you want. But he is mighty depressed" John thanked the shopkeep and walked into the back room.

[HEADING=1]Chapter 2: The Times They Are A Changin'[/HEADING]

As John walked into the back he was greeted by a terrifying sight. Tim lay in a pile of his own wastes sobbing. Vomit and shit covered him as tears rolled down his face like a raging river. He muttered something inaudible as he reached under his desk. Revealing a gun Tim shoved the barrel into his mouth. As his waste and tears dripped off of his face his finger pulled the trigger. The whole back half of his head flew out and splattered against his desk and wall. The surrounding walls now painted with a dark red, his body slumped over and feel back against the desk, where he remained covered in his waste and blood.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Umm, I hate too ask, but will you being staying in Hope Falls for a while? There are a few things I need to take care of" Ethan asked the conductor.
"No son we must leave immediately. We is on a tight schedule and can't stop and stare in this here old town." He replied.

As the conductor back away from the entrance Rutherford and Ethan stepped on with a sigh. As the doors shut the engine started to roar again, as it prepared to take off. There would be a couple of seconds for the two to yell their good byes to the town.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Nate and Abby followed the trail towards Hope Falls they conversed amongst themselves. For a couple of hours the trip had been fine. Stopping for lunch they quickly ate and took care of the necessary things. When they finished they repacked and mounted up and continued along the road. So after a gap of time eight or so figures on horseback appeared to the east of them. With haste the dark figures continued to appear closer and closer to the couple. Then a feathered arrow volleyed through the sky and struck the dirt just to the right of Nate.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jon and a few other town members left the bar and made way to the church. Climbing the steep tower they unattached the bell and started to carry it to the center of town, where it now sits. Jon then prepared to leave and scout.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edward screamed asking who worked there but his words fell upon death ears. As he continued to walk he encountered a note reading:
This town is dead for me my family died from and now neighbors are dying, I leave my home to the farmer boy Ethan may he find use for it and for the maid Amy I leave this rifle in her care she needs it more than I

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the rest of the town they continued on their daily routines stopping where they could to help the ones leaving. The fate of the city may very well be placed in the hands of a Farmer and a Stationmaster.

The train sat, making a slow rhythmic but subliminal chuffing noise as if eager to continue moving, as a regulator ensured the boiler didn't over-pressurize, regularly releasing some steam. Sloshing shouted from the tender as water flowed into the chamber tank. A dial was quickly reaching "250 IMP. GALLONS volume". The conductor kept an eye both on the dial, on the water tower vessel, and somehow also on his pocket watch.
The dial read '250' right on, also indicated by a bellow from the safety valve with a startling spray of steam with a loud "PPHSSPT!" as the Conductor [and also engineer] quickly let the latch, the water flowing stopped promptly. The quiet chuffing of the Regulator began to accelerate. Fred climbed up to the cab and gave a small toot of the whistle, indicating the train was about to be off.
Without a word, Rutherford nodded to the man, and he nodded back minorly, pulling a large rod straight backwards.
With a shrieking clack and a sort of groan, the lever locked in place backwards, and a terrible rumble emanated from the engine.
Violent shuddering came for a small moment from the locomotive, as the eight wheels slipped against the tracks momentarily, spinning several revolutions before registering a more suitable amount of friction against them. Slowly but surely the train began to crawl forward, with slow, foul and prohibitively loud puffs of steam.

Picking up the rifle it felt unfamiliar in his hands. Edward is much more proficient with pistols and such using a rifle just seemed unwieldy to him.
"For Amy huh?" He thought to himself. "That name sounds familiar...."
Storing the gun in his coat with the note attached Edward walked outside.
"Still havent found anyone to fix my damn clockwork gun."

Checking his revolver again he stowed that away.
"I need time to think.... Might as well get a drink."
Walking towards the bar the rifle was sticking out of his coat somewhat, it was uncomfortable to say the least. Taking it out he reattached it to the outside of his belt, leaving it visible for all to see.

Thinking to himself. "Okay first I get a drink clear my head abit, nothing achoholic maybe some soda? No wait they dont have that here..... maybe just juice or somthing..... Well anyhow after whatever they have to drink here Im gonna have to find who the hell Amy is and give her this gun."

Sitting down at the bar he saw the lady who cried over Ace when he died. She must be the new barkeeper or something. "Hey can I get something to drink here? Maybe juice or soda? If not then some uhh reallly watered down wine or something."

John stood just stood there. He could not belive what he just saw.The Storekeep heard the shot and ran to back to find his emplorer dead. "Oh geez. I'll go get the sheriff".The boy left the room and it was just John and Tim again. John neared Tim who now layed motionless on the ground. His stench was horrific and unbearable. John grabbed the gun and inspected it glancing over at Tim as if he would rise from the dead. John found that the gun was similar to his. John took out the bullets and placed them in his pocket before placing the gun back into Tim's hand. The stench had finnally got to him as he vomited on the floor. He wiped his mouth before leaving the room.

As soon as the arrow struck the ground Nate turned Moonlight into the middle of the herd, slid off the saddle, and laid his rifle over the saddle. He took careful aim, knowing that the arrows would fall a bit short or over shoot them, and fired two shots at the strange horses, pumping the lever action in a well practiced manner.

He wasn't nearly the shot that Abby was, but by his reckoning they'd be able to wipe out the party with a few well-placed shots, and at the very least they should be able to make the small party reconsider its current action.

While Nate was moving, Abby was too. She quickly dismounted and pulled out her own rifle, keeping the horses between the figures and herself. With Nate being a more obvious target, she took the chance that they'd be paying more attention to him, and took more careful aim. Hostiles on the ground were easier to outrun, and though she was sorry she had to do it, she began firing at the horses.

The Indian at the front of the pack pointed the bow at Nate and fired. With his attention diverted to Nate, Abby fired the gun at him. The bullet landed in the front left leg of the horse, and the horse fell face first into the dirt. As the horse collapsed the Indian flew off and landed on the dirt.

As the Indians realized that the range game was lost they sheathed their bows and drew out their machetes as they made haste towards the group, scattered in no form of battle formation as they attempt to bull rush the group.

Nate had to duck out of the way of the arrow, and sent one of his shots wide. While the arrow missed him, it still managed to knock his hat off. He fired another well aimed shot at the center of the nearest native. He grimaced to himself as he saw them riding in for close combat. He fired another well aimed shot at the natives and set the rifle in its holster. He gave Moonlight a tap to get her out of the way and drew his Peacemakers. He set his feet apart and prepared for the fight. Being an accomplished marksmen with his pistols he was ready for what was about to come, even if he didn't like the killing.

Nate planted his feet, readied his pistols and alternated firing one, then the other. Shooting the Indians as they got close enough for his bullets to hit him. The advantage he had with being on the ground and using the pistols he could get them before they could get him. He planned to make short work of the ruthless natives and he'd take no mercy on them, for he knew they'd have none for him or his sister.

Nate has 6 rounds in each gun. Each shot is fired at center mass. Since the Indians can't turn on their horses, without dropping their machetes and diving off the side of the horse, Nate has a great opportunity to get a shot into the Indians. Just something to keep in mind. Not to mention that the herd of horses while being spooked, hasn't completely thinned out.

As soon as Abby realized they were being charged, her vision narrowed to a tunnel, and she began concentrating on her breathing. She began aiming at center mass, taking one careful shot after another. She knew that she and Nate would be able to take enough out quickly that the rest might get demoralized and run, but she was prepared to shoot them in the back if that was the case.

Abby has 6 remaining shots in her rifle, and 6 more in her pistol. Her mare's leg also holds 8 shots. She was on the far side of the herd and thus has more time to aim her shots to maximum effect.
