Yup, so how many of you suffer from forgettosaveatitus and find you constantly have to restart from ridiculously way back distances in a game?

Also, how many of you load your save instead of an auto save which is further, or save over another save game by accident. and begin to cuss with rage that you now have to redo something ALL OVER AGAIN!

Express you save game traumas here >:D

My own recent experiences: Dragon Age: It wasn't particularly far, and it does auto save but I went and forgot to save after several successful and long convos etc as well as unique items found, of course, after losing my progress from dying, I didn't get those unique items again ¬_¬. Also Infamous, I had 2 save games, one for evil and one for good, upon starting it up, it loaded the evil save automatically, which I've already completed, so I tried to load the good version....yup, I want to load, confirm...wait, what do you mean do I want to load again, you just asked me that...uh oh...it in fact asked me if I wanted to save game before I load, which I confirmed, saving it over my good karma file! Damnit!!!

There are many, many times that I'm thankful Fallout auto-saves all the freakin' time. I'm so terrible at remembering to save.

Fallout...the horror that is fallout...
Thank God for the autosaves when you enter and leave buildings and such.

That was my very issue with Fallout 3.

I would have to travel across the wasteland just to reach an unseen location and complete key points along with way. Of course, I'd forget to save and die a horrible death, losing at least 30minutes to 1hours time of progress.

YES!! Especially with Far Cry 2! And the obscenely long travel times just make this unbearable. I've ragequit like 3 or 4 times now, and I never ragequit, but this game is just so difficult to get anywhere that if I lose a lot of travel time I just say "Fuck this shit" and quit.
EDIT: First person to not mention Fallout. I think I probably compulsively save in that game, so I never lose too much time.

This used to be quite a lot more problematic when you couldn't save your progression in games. Dieing meant either Game Over or removing a life from x amount and starting from a long way away.

I remember a couple times in Civilization IV, when the game crashed or I just wanted to try something strange like attacking a civ that I had very little sense to attack against. And when I was about to load a save game, I realized that I had disabled auto-save, I had gone so long that I had to proceed with the attacking, or the (last) autosave (I wanted) was 10-20 turns or further away and I had to do all the things all over again. It especially annoyed if I had done great otherwise and couldn't remember at all what I had done and ended up being in a lot worse state.

I've also got my savegames or progression otherwise disappearing/lost, due to reinstalling OS or bug or something similar, and lost very much in Half-Life 2, Oblivion, Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3, Titan Quest, Diablo II, the list goes on...

But nowadays I'm usually very good at remembering to save, almost all the time with no bother. Huge thanks for that goes to DA:O and F3. I'll be saving on all the spots I'm supposed to, so I barely ever need to deal with the problem of "I'm not doing all that all over again" anymore.

I have done that more than once, and some of the time it's 'I will save later', and BAM! I have to start a mission all over again because of my personal retardation. It's happened to me more than once in Borderlands, I fail to get to an auto save zone after I acquired what I needed before a fight and I have to start all over again. FUN!

Half a year ago, I was playing Resident Evil 2 and was spending a long time playing as Claire without using any Ink Ribbons. I got killed by Williams on my way down into the labs and only realized too late how bad the consequences were going to be.

Anything worth doing is worth doing again. : )

Can be ridiculously frustrating, though. But ultimately you have to think about if you're going to let the game beat you.

Persona 3 and 4 are terrible for this reason only. In the later dungeons, there are monsters that have the ability to insta kill you.

BAM. Three hours of frustration gone.

Screw you. Seriously.

I never ever do that, anymore.
I used to suffer from forgettosave-itus, and once I lost several hours of progress.

Now I save religiously, like every time I enter a new area, or level up, or get the feeling that something may happen.

It's rare now for me to go 10 minutes without saving.

Mass Effect - one of the elevators on Noveria glitched, and I had to go all the way back to Port Hanshan. Having to do that stupid Mako sequence irritated the hell out of me.

I have over 90 saves on Fallout New Vegas and over 300 on Fallout 3. I think I suffer from the opposite syndrom

Just like many other people have brought up, Fallout. I once walked a huge distance across the Wasteland so could get to an undiscovered place and then died right before I got there.

So much. SO MUCH. It's actually the reason I got rid of Star Ocean: The Last Hope; I was on the post game, incredibly difficult dungeons. I got all the way down in one sitting, only to be surprised by a godmode boss and completely raped. After a month of avoiding the game I picked it up again... and the exact same thing happened (except I went a different way to avoid aforementioned godmode boss, and ran into another one). Then I thought, fuck it, I've already beaten this game. Aurgh. :(
