Mass Effect. Oh God, Mass Effect. I never expected there not to be a reliable autosave. I've raged so many times about it.

Man, pokemon could be the worst some times. "Aight, I'm finally done grinding through all these bug catchers and magicarps, now I'll just go heal and *runs out of power*........dammit.

I have this issue with a lot of games these days, most notably BioShock; I'm playing it on Survivor with no Vita-chambers, and I constantly find myself having to replay the last half-hour because I'd forgotten to save. Or gotten cocky and figured I didn't need to (and proceeded to get my ass drilled to a wall by a Bouncer).

In the game Two Worlds 2, you can set at which intervals it auto-saves. Like for me, it auto-saves every 2 minutes. Make sure stuff like what others say never happen. :)

Mass Effect 1's Auto-Saves were extremely few-and-far between.

When going through on Insanity, I saved before each room just in case. That's the only time I've actually managed to pay attention long enough to do that.

Pretty much the opposite for a mate of mine - he forgot to delete his saved file in pokémon white when he restarted (to get all 3 starters), and so couldn't save. Meaning he had to play the hour long beginning sequence again...
Bonus points to him that he was willing to do it the 3 times required to give him all 3 starters. Loss of points when he wouldn't do it again to give me all 3 of them (I was the restart ***** for Diamond and Soul Silver, so it balances!)

This is why I haven't finished Final Fantasy 6 yet. I keep doing so well only to get my party wiped by a mob twice the level of the last one.

It's really the reason I haven't beaten Munch's Oddysee yet. I get all the way to the end of a certain level, end up dying, and HAVE TO LITERALLY START IT OVER FROM THE BEGINNING.

Then I stop playing for a week. Or two. Or three. Or ten.

I'm one of the habitual savers, I hit the button automatically after almost every action in a game. It sometimes annoys me even when I have to scroll through hundreds of saves, one playthrough of Dragon Age had some 600 saves...

what if it auto-saves you with 3 hp right before an enemy lands a killing blow :O!

Because I once saved a game and then right when I came out I was instantly killed... over and over and over again.

But ever sense Jedi Knight: Academy I save after any fight when the enemies aren't easy to kill. So much wasted save spots on Morrowind T-T

I remember when I first loaded up WoW I spent like 30 minutes looking for the save function.

I can only remember this happening once in recent memory, it was me playing FF9, I had gotten to the ice cave near the start and came to a fork in the road, I was fairly low on health and I went right hoping for a save point but instead got dumped into a boss battle. Not only did it kill me almost instantly, it also sent me like 4 hours back to right before the LAST boss battle with the eye ball plant thing. So I lost the 5 levels I had gained from grinding the hell out of that ice cave, AND I still had to fight my least favorite boss battle in the history of interactive entertainment.

This one time I went back to Halo 2, forgot how the save system worked and ended up losing two hours of progress. I've never returned to finish it.

My worst auto-save problem was in Halo 2 in the city level with all the Jackal snipers on legendary, it autosaved just before a Jackal took a shot at me.
"Aww damn, another Jackal, OK I'll look out for him when I respa- Oh wait what the shit I just got killed again, man i'm gonna get this little fu- Oh for CHRISTS SAKE WHAT THE HELL AUTO-SAVE!?!?!?!"

I've lost entire levels because of this in fallout 3/new vegas.

One particular incident comes to mind: My last save was in the wasteland, I was on mothership zeta, and the auto save had me with about 3/4 health and no stimpaks trying to kill 3 turrets and roughly 7 aliens. Have fun respawning.

Well recently I decided to upgrade my Xbox 360 hard drive from a 60gb to a 120gb. After I transferred all my data, I went to re-download some things that I had deleted before. While I did this, I noticed some things weren't showing up. I didn't realize it at the time, but this is because there's three profiles on my system and I purchased some items under the other accounts. So before I remembered this, I decided to delete my profile and thought if I recovered it the other data would show up. Weeeeellllll when I went to delete it I accidentally chose the option "delete profile AND ALL ITEMS" and not just "delete profile". As soon as I hit the button my heart dropped and I realized I had made a GINORMOUS mistake. There was no "Are you sure?" message and three years of saved game data was gone in less than a minute. What gets me is Microsoft's Windows is the king of "Are You Sure?" messages, but they didn't think it would be necessary to have one for something as important as this. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Fallout, and many others were gone. Hell I was halfway through Red Dead Redemption, but now I don't even want to look at it. Sorry for the long post, but I had to get it off my chest.

The last time this really pissed me off was in Deus Ex, I forgot that it doesn't autosaved and lost 3+ hours of progress.
