I have both games. Good times...and a QTE system that works!
I only have the first but I haveto agree. On flaw is the lack of a 'load' function (that I can find). I mean, I've restarted it (and I managed to lose a gem from a broken weapon, a garnet no less, and attack boosts at the Divine Beast Caves are like having a nuke in your pocket) but I didn't get a perfect on the first duel (got excellent on the second though, for which I am happy). It makes me sad, because if I had a load function I would've made the effort to get perfect.

... oh, but I love Xiao, I really do, but so far I've gotten 5 alternate weapons for Toan, and not a single for Xiao (I want my bandit slingshot dammit!). But I'm actually surprised that so many people (such a high percentage) have played the game. I've only ever seen one copy of it ever, which I bought.

Actually, if you don't mind, could I PM you a question, because I don't think a thread about my question would get me the answers I want?

I had a demo of it, and quite enjoyed it. Unfortunately the game had already become fairly rare by the time I played that demo. Been meaning to get it from ebay.

Dark Cloud 2 was one of my favorite PS2 RPGs.

Everything from the town building to the weapon creation to the fishing minigame in every dungeon was a blast.

There was murmurs of a Dark Cloud 3 in the works but since Level 5 is currently obsessed with the WKC series I doubt we'll see a return anytime soon (if at all)

I never played the first game, Dark Cloud 2 was pretty cool though. I never got very far in it though, but one of these days I'm going to go back and play through it.

In the Case of Dark Cloud 1, I think it's because it was about it as far as Action/RPG type launch titles on the PS2... I mean eventually the PS2 became THE system for JRPG fans etc... but at launch, they had all the sports series ported over, Crazy Taxi, Metal Gear Solid, Dark Cloud and your old PS1 library.

Not that I didn't like it, but I am glad that I was able to afford my third of the PS2 when I bought it with my brothers without having to trade/sell any of my PS1 games.

I love the original, never got to play the second one although I sincerely wish I could.
Same here I have fond memories of playing the original game as a child, amazing astonishing the amount of content in that game!
