Hi everyone I'm fairly far into Dark Souls 2 now, I haven't beaten it yet but I've learned a lot and I want to try and answer any questions to help anyone just starting their playthrough because for me at least it's been tough to find out anything helpful online so hopefully I can help some people out. So if anyone sees this and needs some help I'm your man

Sweet man, thanks for elping others out.

Ive been wondering, where in the world is the armor that was shown in all the trailers/previews and was in the demo for the Temple knight.
If it's the armor I'm thinking of it's in Castle Dragneic (spelling) one of the doors that opens in the room with all the stone soldiers and ruin sentinels has a hole in the ground that leads to it.

Just wondering if anyone know where the Archdrake Mace is/drop? I keep seeing it in the loading screens and I really want to try it off.

You get it from the Archdrake Sect members. They're all over the Shrine of Amana.

I've got a couple of questions, but they're not about gameplay.

1) Does it carry a narrative thread from Dark Souls, or is it as disconnected from that game as Dark Souls was from Demon's Souls?

2) If I really liked Demon's Souls, is it worth getting Dark Souls or should I skip that and move to Dark Souls II?

Each game tells its own story that has only loose connection to what came before, you can jump right into DS2 and not miss anything of the story that game is telling.
That being said, Playing DS1 first is going to give you some additional context and a couple of "neato!" and "WTF!" moments in DS2.

1. Dark Souls was disconnected from Demon's Souls because the developers lost the rights to Demon's Souls when they broke off with their publisher. Or something like that. This game does tie back into Dark Souls, but it's only apparent near the end of the first playthrough/halfway through the second.

2. Never played Demon's Souls, so I don't knoooow.

Do you know how many offerings I need to get to each rank in a covenant? The Rat Kings and Brotherhood of Blood, specifically.

I also don't know what exactly counts as an offering to the Blood Gods, as I don't actually get the blood from people I kill.

It's changed a little. The game now counts the amount of wins you've had in PvP matchups and grant you the points automatically. I think the first rank for the brotherhood of Blood is thirty wins, either through invasions or the arena.

when you reset an area does it stay reset (meaning do the enimies keep their difficulty) for NG+ or does everything reset for NG+?

The FIRST rank is 30 wins?! That's ridiculous, the stupid soul memory means it can take 10 mins to an hour to find one challenger, and its no guarantee that I win. Pretty good odds that I win (poison twinblade ftw)

What is a good strength based weapon and where do I find it? I haven't had much luck finding decent equipment.

With the bonfire ascetic? It sticks across.

So if you used one to make an area go NG, when you go NG, that area will be NG+, and so on.

In every possible case you should get Dark Souls I. From what I have heard, DS2 is a worthy successor, but still not quite up to the godliness of that game. I have yet to play DS2, as I'm waiting to get back home and endure it with my friend, so I'm keen to see how it compares.

Most people I've seen use the Huge/Large Club (Whichever one has A-rank scaling).

Cestus has A-rank scaling too. A friend swears by Pursuer's Ultra Greatsword and Zweihandler.

Personally, I beat the game with the Drangleic Sword. I tried every other weapon because I hated using the same weapon for so long, but nothing else could compare...

The gameplay in all the souls games is pretty much the same so if you enjoyed that about Demon's Souls each entry incrementally improves on it. Design wise 2 is more similar to Demon's Souls where it is much more of a spokewheel from the main hub and the easiest path would be to take out the first boss in each one before going forward, but you won't find anything quite to the level of Tower of Latria atmosphere wise (though Dark Souls 1 didn't have that either).

Also as Kopikatsu mentioned it does tie in with Dark Souls 1 pretty solidly but you won't know it til the end. Until then it pretty much just tells you "Go kill demons" like Demon's Souls did.

If you're comfortable in close quarters the Caestus is actually amazing in this game with A/B str/dex scaling and next to no stamina consumption. You can get it from the merchant that you met in the forest of the fallen giants. Otherwise I really enjoyed the Lion greataxe and am currently power stancing it through NG+. You'll find it off the enemies past the fogged woods area. Also would recommend checking out Straid's boss weapons as he'll sell you some really good ones.
