OBJECTION!

Hi. Reading about the latest news about DS2, how will they expect it to change and such, and being currently finishing the first game, I would apreciate to see a nice, tidy and compact list of what would you ask the developers to include/change?.

I would rather have them as bullet points, thus please if you're going to both post yours and discuss something posted by someone else, separate it like this very post.

---------

1. Definitions, codexs, tooltips... Whatever that explains what do the stats do.
2. A pvp kills/deaths / boss kills counter.
3. An anti-cheating system.
4. Better descriptions on what do certain items do (see dried finger).

That's out the top of my head, but I'll keep adding the ones I like.

Story mode.

No seriously...I'd like a game mode which is still challenging and interesting but so I can play without getting stuck for ages (like in Anor Londo) and without having to grind constantly for upgrades...so basically maybe like having increased Titanite Drop because farming Titanite is so boring. Maybe an always human/no invasion mode where you have the chance to summon Phantoms at special opportunities eg. boss fights.

Hm......

More clear description on how Covenants work
Make dual wielding work well. Maybe make it deal massive damage at the trade off that you're more vulnerable, although I have heard that they are already doing this, so yay.
Make the crossbow less of a pain in the ass to use.
Nothing like the Crystal Caves and maybe Tomb of the Giants.

Apart from that, just make me die over and over again and make me have to fight to get through and I'll be happy. Also no slacking on the lore.

No, no, no. The fact you barely knows what you are doing or why you are doing was part why Dark Souls was so awesome, you are not suposse to be a hero, just a undead who may be being manipulated by forces way stronger than you are.

Did you read my post? I proposed the game was kept the same just that Titanite drops more frequently and you are always human and can't get invaded and you can have summons at challenging moments of the game. Not a story mode with cutscenes and long dialogues etc.

...Doesn't it work like that already?

I love the lore in DS but I hate how to get the most out of it you have to piece things together from the most obscure items. I started appreciating the game even more after watching lore videos on line.

My wish is that the story is a little more accessible in-game.

No gimmick bosses. I want every boss battle to be a test of skill, just me vs them. Like Artorias in the expansion.

Most of mine will be PvP based because that's what I've personally played the most of.

1. Balance magic for the love of god. I get so tired of fighting Dark Bead spammers. Really ruins my day because apart from abusing invincibility frames or using your surrounding environment (of which there isn't much in most PvP hotspots) there isn't much you can do about it.

2. Make it so you can cancel out of gestures. In its current form it's like a display of honour and trust bowing to your opponent at the beginning of a fight. All too often though it's abused to hell by scummy players.

3. Easier and more accessible multiplayer in general. It took me weeks to figure it out. Hopefully the dedicated servers will help that some.

4. Dual wielding rework. It's fairly useless in its current form unless you're using two very different weapons and working around both. I'm talking about dual wielding broadswords and being able to perform combos and such.

5. More beautiful and haunting environments please. Ash Lake falls into this category. With how the art style is developing though it looks like I'll hopefully get my wish.

The thing is, I've played this game for so many hours it's hard to remember what I've just accepted and forgotten though... Covenants and a more clear indication of how they work would be nice, as well as a nerf to spear weapons and those element buffs. Also bullshit spell combos, as interesting as they are to discover (i.e Pursuers/Dark Bead with TWOP).

You and I share a lot of the same opinions in terms of what we want from Dark Souls 2. Unsure if you have watched any beta footage, but fromsoft has approved beta footage to be recorded and shown as long as it shows the game in a fair light. Here is a video showing some of the new stuff. Perhaps others will get a few of their questions answered as well.

Remember that it is beta footage though. Nothing set to be permanent, and from what I understand, they are still fine tuning the difficulty.

Duel wielding two handed weapons will be quite the interesting experience it seems.

From hearing that apparently the Warriors of Sunlight are (sorta) gone, I must beg to still have lightning spear. By far my favorite spell in the game purely from an ascetics standpoint. Also while I appreciate the whole no map and no giant pointing arrows, maybe if they made some important story dialogue capable of being referenced in a journal of some sort. Like if someone tells you the second bell is in Blightown and how to get there it just copies that dialogue and pastes it in your journal so you don't forget if you take a break from playing.

1. All areas connected in a Metroidvania style. I loved cracking open the world and finding shortcuts.

2. More mini bosses.

3. Don't allow enemy attacks to clip through walls and pillars. Or give an reason for it, like ghosts swords or something.

4. Get rid of ways to increase the random drop rate. It adds a lot of busy work.

6. I hated farming rats for humanity, stop giving incentives for long, mindless repetition.

7. OR: Allow me to create rat farms.

8. I'm want to see the learning curve to accommodate new and veteran players. People who have beaten the game will have resources like muscle memory and mechanical skills that new players will not. Take the parrying mechanic. After you've mastered parrying tough enemies go down a lot easier, which was part of the appeal. I have no idea how they are going to create a difficult "level one" without ruining new players or relying too much on traps.

1. A complete reworking of PVP. Your PVP success rate should act as a level-modifier for determining invasion level range. Have an easily accessible PVP arena in the main game.

2. No bosses like the bed of Chaos. Hated that thing so much. Nobody thought it was a well-designed fight.

3. Rework how arrows work. When your spells, health, and potions all recharged at a bonfire, your arrows were a finite resource. You could go in with 999 of them if you were spendy, and patient. Have them be more finite, and reset at bonfires.

Covenants are being addressed.
Dual Wielding is being handled pretty well from how I played it. It's looking to be high risk/high reward style of play
Bow builds are looking to be viable, the arrows are much faster this time. Dunno about the crossbow
I assume by CC and Tomb of Giants you mean gimmicky areas? Those are coming back. Certain areas will be pitch black requiring a light source (a torch)

The lore is going to be fine. Allow me to demonstrate. This is the description found in the beta regarding the item that replaces humanity in turning you to human form.

Human Effigy

An effigy formed from a lump of an unknown black material. It is surprisingly warm and strangely soft to the touch. Use this item to reverse Hollowing.

When gazing closely at the effigy, one starts to perceive a human's appearance. It is said that the appearance you see is your own true form.

Now, depending on how savy you are with the lore. Notice anything there?

Ability to manually aim crossbows!

More interesting spells and better magic balance in general.

Mechanics/covenants being better explained in general.

AI and pathing improvements especially the issue of enemies walking off ledges and falling to their death. I know a lot of the enemies in darksouls are suppose to be stupid but not that stupid.

I don't particularly want this since none of my friends play games like Dark Souls but being able to co op with a specific person more easily would be nice. Interacting with other players either cooperatively or competitively for a short period of time and them going separate ways is awesome and atmospheric but the option to play with a mate would be appreciated to.

Easier summoning system in general. I didn't co op a lot. Mainly because your summon signs disappear when you leave the area and by the time I got to the boss I don't have much reason to keep hanging around in the same area. Even when I did get summoned or try to summon half the time it didn't work.

I would rather plot info dumps like Kaathe not require you to do things in a completely unintuitive order. Hidden is ok, I like that you have to piece things together an pay attention rather than things being explicitly stated though they could have made the bones of what is happening more clear but I don't like him being gone forever and you never even seeing him unless you do things in a weird order. Especially if they are going to have an NPC like that pop up again in an ending when most players would never have even heard of them.

A stealth system perhaps? there is a bit of already there but it could use some beefing up.

I wouldn't count them out just yet. Another covenant has been revealed in DSII...
