Tonight we officially get to die! Tonight at 9pm Dark Souls 3 unlocks, (although I think I might be midnight for the East coast folks sorry). I for one am obviously hyped. As a player who stayed away from Dark Souls for a long time because I've never been very good at video games, I feared the game would be too hard for me.

A few months ago I got Scholar of the First Sin on Xbone for like 15 bucks, and I figured I would give it a shot. Ironically my friends who had gathered to watch me suffer, as they knew I was bad at games, could only marvel as I breezed through big chunks of the game before dying. Turns out I wasn't rubbish at Dark Souls 2, and that confused them. They wondered how I could suck at everything else, but a game that takes actual skill found my groove or whatever.

I could never actually beat Dark Souls 2 though, the game is so fucking long. I got very close to the end I think, reaching a little after the shrine of amara. And I fucked around in the DLC for a bit too, reaching Fume Knight and promptly getting fucking nowhere with him.

Then I got a hold of Bloodborne after finally buying a PS4. I beat the shit outta Bloodborne, in fact, I would dare say that I found Bloodborne a bit easy. I even beat it, and most of the DLC.

I love the souls games and I can't even say how fucking crazy excited I am to jump into part 3 tonight. I've managed to avoid all spoilers and previews, in order to go into the game blind. Although I've seen reviews and I have a sense of the feel of the game. Apparently it's got tighter combat, closer to Bloodborne than Dark Souls 1 and that fucking excites me. God I am pumped!

Who's pumped with me?

Who's ready to die?

On Steam it unlocks at 6pm EDT (8 hours from now). I am super hyped. Game's already installed and I am getting off work at 5pm. Also took Tuesday and Wednesday off, so I'll be surprised if I don't finish my first playthrough before I get back to work Thursday XD

EDIT: Forced myself to play through DS2 a second time in preparation but skipped the DLC. I found I really just don't like DS2 at all (I have 250 hours in DS1 if that tells you anything). Also blazed through 50% of Bloodborne in about 6 hours this weekend. Didn't have enough time to do Old Hunters again (would have been my fourth time doing it), but maybe I'll finish that playthrough a few months down the line. Love that DLC.

The whole Xbone accidental release two weeks ago has already spoiled me a bit simply by having glanced over a let's play thumbnail on youtube. Here's some advice for all you let's players out there; Don't put a spoiler in your fucking video title, ya dickheads!

Anyway yeah, picking it up tomorrow.

Ohhh yeah baby, definitely playing (and maybe making sweet love to) this. As a reminder, there is a Dark Souls Usergroup [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Dark-Souls] which has been more or less dormant but might see a revival with the DkS 3 release.

Fucking stoked.

On the one hand, I got the awesome collectors edition. On the other, I'll have to wait a week before I can actually play it.

I'm not. 1. Don't got the money to buy it. 2. Havent beaten Demon Souls, nor Dark Souls 1 or 2. Also don't know how it compares to previous games, and Bloodborne. That said, I'm currently actually trying to beat DS1. I will eventually play 3, have no doubt, but it will be awhile.

From what I've heard it's like a mixture of "Bloodborne" with "Dark Souls". Given that I've always loved the former, while having conflicting feelings on the latter but appreciated its world, I'll be walking into this game with great optimism.

I started a playthrough of "Dark Souls" (again) last night, because I'm not sure when I can get the third game (hopefully soon!)

Ditto. Everyone should hop onto that group because I, and hopefully others, will be lighting the chat on fire as we get through the game, posting tips and secrets we find, possibles boss strategies, and very importantly, build suggestions. I think that with each Souls game the community eventually labels all the "useless" equipment and praises the more effective weapons and armor.

Question for all PAL region players picking up the game at retail: Do you have midnight launches or do you have to wait the following morning to pick up your copy?

I've only played DS1, but think it was very overated. Still a good game with a very magical core, but there was just too much repetition and grinding for me to find it enjoyable to a "wow" level.

DS3 looks great, and - along with Bloodborne - I'll grab it in a few years when it's come down in price and I buy a PS4. But the whole thing can wait for me. I might pickup DS2 if I find it for less than ?10 over the next few days.

It goes on sale on steam quite often, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting it on a good sale. I've seen it for as low as 7 bucks.

Thanks mate. I doubt my PC will be up to spec to run it, si I'll likely have to get it for the 360. But appriciate the heads up :)

I have already beaten it, so the hype has gone. I will be picking up physical, English copy for my collection though.

I think it is the best of the series personally. Not to spoil anything, but it's quite a satisfying end if it really is the last one. I see no reason why you wont really love it.

Milking doesn't get me hyped, and neither does the Dark Souls 2 team. I'll wait for some user reviews, but I highly doubt it'll be as good as the first Souls games or Bloodborne.

I am unbelievably hyped for DS3. Got it bought and preloaded on Steam and I can't wait to get done at work, hit the gym, then settle in with a big mug of tea and just let Miyazaki blow his loa I MEAN play what sounds like a real return-to-form for the series. I've remained pretty much spoiler free except for learning a couple characters are in the game.
