Meet Faith, who is probably the only character I made to have continuity. What I mean is, I made her in the first Dark Souls and she entered the 2nd cycle (aka Dark Souls 2) and completed that game. I'm going to bring her into Dark Souls III ... think of it as when you played Shepard in all the Mass Effect games. That is what i'm doing with Faith who's conquering the cycles in the Dark Souls universe.
I always stuck with my character being the same guy who had a really hard time staying dead and always returned when the cycle needed him. Went from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls with more vibrant eyes, Dark Souls 1 to Dark Souls 2 with grey hair, and in Dark Souls 3 he'll look more refined and pish-posh.

Pretty pumped even though I've already been spoiled by watching twitch streams of the JP version. The game looks really polished.

I had originally planned to wait until tomorrow to snag the disc version for PS4, but the PC version is available now (for cheaper even) and it so happens I recently got a decent gaming rig. Download still has another 1.5 hours to go on my mediocre connection ... le sigh.

Lots of reports about crashes in the Steam reviews.
Its fairly stable for me, but my machine is about on par with recommended. Far as the game goes, looks great, tight controls, they ditched adaptability and its been a while since I've felt that tense playing a game.

Good times.

Played for about an hour and enjoyed myself. Not playing more because my internet isn't on it's best behaviour (boy was it a struggle to get that patch installed. Imagine if I didn't preload...oy). First impressions are good, but I only JUST entered the first area outside the tutorial without putting the game down (I want to play online, and the poor connection keeps kicking me out of my game). Things are feeling nice and tight, game looks great, and I'm getting a lot of Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls vibes. Mmmm...

Regarding crashes, I have received two. One was on a character select screen and the other was when I tried to boot up the game afterwards. Did a reboot and things seem to be healthy (though my internet is still pitching a fit. I'm sure it isn't the servers because my iPad is also having troubles connecting). I'm actually surprised it's running, considering I'm trying to use a GPU that is below the current minimum (using a GTX 660 Ti) and a stick of RAM that might be on it's way out. May not be a clean 60 FPS, but it's on high and1920 x 1080 resolution with very few stutters. Runs about as well as SOTFS did. I might eat my words once I fight a horde of enemies or a boss the size of my screen comes, but for now I can play like this.

Got an hour of gameplay in before going to work. The game is fine, but needs patching. The PC port runs reasonably well, the performance isn't shit, but I've had a number of crashes, and while my rig is a couple years old, it still runs pretty much everything on the market just fine. I mean, if I can get through Witcher 3 without any trouble, DS3 shouldn't be a problem. But it is. Also, the game seems to have memory leak issues. Basically, I'll be playing it, but I expect to have a frustrating time of it until it gets patched up properly.

Overall, if you're on a PC and aren't about to keel over from a hype overdose, hold off until a patch or two get put in. At the moment, it's a bit of a lottery...

For some reason the game works fine while I play it in windowed mode, but if I try in full screen it works okay for a few minutes and then drops to 5-10 FPS.

And then even if I'm in windowed mode, whenever I go near a bonfire the game just crashes.

What is this "Playstation exclusive online" you speak of? Are you referring to PS+?

You mean PS+? That's Sony right there, I'm not sure what it has to do with Fromsoft.

Yeah, performance has been spotty for many. I did get the first bonfire crash but switching the lighting to low is a workaround that's been suggested in the forums and on PC Gamer and that worked for me. Played for a few hours and got through Vordt without any more issues. Performance for me with everything on high (Except for the lighting obviously) has been great. Rock solid and smooth with only a couple hitches when the game saves periodically.

GTX 770 2gb and i5-4670k. The recommended specs seem inflated for sure.

Also
FUCK the Lothric knights. They gave me more rage inducing trouble than the bosses so far

Why am I suddenly so bad in this game, lol.

Performance is fine for me, although I had slight slowdowns (1 sec max) in places.

Don't have a machine that will run it currently, but I don't mind. I only got around to playing Dark Souls within the past year. I still haven't played through Dark Souls II. I'm going to exhaust my PS3 backlog before I bite the bullet and get a PS4. It looks soooooo good, but I'm willing to wait.

...

I guess this is out of place in a hype thread.

I guess I kind of won the lottery on this one, considering I have a more powerful graphics card and a not powerful enough processor...

I'm loving the visuals though. Everything has come through nice and clear for me, without the 'gobbyness' of the first two (where you lose details at distance and a guy looks like a hunk of no framerate wandering meat).

Oh man, that's what I was thinking until I slammed dick first into a boss in that area. Jesus christ it went down poorly. I am absolutely loving the weapon skill system though, so that's fun. I need to find out if this one works on a strike, pierce, slash system so I can plan out encounters more.

Okay so quick question; How do you attune spells? I can't for the life of me figure how to place a spell in my attunement slots. I'm playing as an Assassin and I got Spook in place with one more attunement slot empty. I bought Soul Arrow from the old lady at the start of the game, but now I can't place it. Anyone know what fuck is going on here?
