I'm ashamed that no one knows about VaatiVidya's video of the Dark Souls II details:

ENB is great and all, but I really couldn't listen to just him talk for 30 minutes. This guy offers some visual aid as well as importing some details from ENB's video, so I would recommend this.
I actually liked Vaati's Stuff more than ENB, botha re awesome, but i find Vaati easier to listen to. But i disagreed with his stance on the whole pvp-thing. Especially the fact that it seems hes implying, like most other PVP-lovers, that people not wanting invasions are cheating, or using "crutches". If he also mentioned that Dark Souls PVP is hideously broken, i'd agree with him. The Video just didnt sit well with me, DS allways seemed like a hard game to apporach, with a bit of a hostile Community when it comes to "Crutches". Look at some Videos on YT, where people get bashed for using Solaire against Ornie and Smough. I only see the whole thing working if they fix the stuff that was broken in Vanilla, like written above.

I joined the Gravelord Servants when I played, I wish I could have seen what havoc is wreaked, if any. I didn't have too many problems with invasions when I played but relied on online to call for help against difficult bosses I wanted to best within the first few attempts.

Too bad I quit the game when I stuck at the part with the tightwalk with the black knights with the titan bows just knocking one off. There's a good chance I'll pick up Dark Souls 2 regardless though.

I just hope I can do more as a Gravelord Servant, I wasn't honestly expecting to fight the Gravelord as a Servant. It seemed somewhat off.

I get what you're saying. He didn't explicitly call the PvP in Dark Souls broken, but he did say that DkS II will have dedicated servers which will definitely improve the online components vastly, so one could assume that the PvP element won't feel "broken".

Oh and he definitely didn't call out people who didn't want to be invaded cheaters or to be using crutches. When he said crutches he was referring to the features which made Dark Souls a far easier game than intended, and this does include the ability to summon OP helpers to curbstomp the AI enemies and bosses as well as being "safe" from invasion in Hollow form. You could call those crutches, but I personally think that crutches aren't necessarily a bad thing. Most if not all people will admit that they cannot handle certain aspects of a game without some sort of help.

I think people are getting the wrong message here. I really don't think FROMSoft is trying to be exclusionary with their game. They are not saying "GET BETTER OR GTFO". They are mostly saying "Dark Souls was hard in a sense. Now we want to make the sequel even harder by tweaking the game in such a way that you cannot rely on certain gameplay aspects like you did before. The game has evolved, and you should too. Can you meet the challenge?"

Come to think of it, ENB actually mentioned this topic in one of his vids a long time ago...

Begins around 1:40...
