I just wanted to make this thread for all the souls addicts out there like myself to share there fandom for what is an amazing game.

Soooooo guys what are some things you loved?

what are some things you hated?

and how about the inherent misogyn I mean awesome feeling that comes from beating the game?

I loved that I could become the embodiement of my chosen hero ideal or otherwise. something about the asthetic and the world The way my knight looked in contrast to all the evil gave me a very arthurian rush.

When you get invaded and they damn roll backstab you that is some serious bs.:/

Far as beating the game it was a relief cause I could return to the real world!lmao

I enjoyed the boss fights. Disliked everything else.

The combat was okay, but I got bored of it long before I came even close to beating the game.

I don't think misogyn(y) means, what you think it means.

Anyway, I loved it, just as I loved Demon's Souls before it. Boss fights, the world, which felt a lot bigger this time around, not in the least because of a seamless, non-sectioned world, the combat, not much difference from Demon's Souls, but it's great as is, so why change it, the atmosphere, everything felt right and just plain awesome.

As for things I disliked, I'll have to say the online pvp part. The base game itself feels fair, even if it's frustrating at times, but the pvp is just messed up. Sure, there are a lot of OP builds, which can be annoying, but what really makes me dislike it, are all the lagstabbing going on. I've experienced several times to be face to face with an opponent, only to be backstabbed by that very same opponent the next second, completely out of nowhere. It felt really random and a lot worse than pvp in Demon's Souls.

I've completed the games 2 times so far and I'm pretty close to beating it the third time. The fourth will be the time I get my platinum trophy. The only other game I've done that with, is Demon's Souls.

Stumbling across Ash Lake was probably one of the most breathtaking gaming experiences that's ever happened to me. Just discovering the staggering infinitum of enormous, cavernous trees that spread into eternity, coupled with the dead and freezing waters of the lake itself was, frankly, almost terrifying. The fact that it is a completely hidden and optional area, and one that requires some serious exploring to discover, only added to its spellbinding atmosphere. You really felt like you had uncovered some ancient, long-forgotten and possibly even forbidden place. That was probably my highlight.

What I hated however, was losing almost every single PvP I engaged in.

I played like 10 minutes of it at a friends house yesterday and instantly fell in love with it. The atmosphere is fucking awesome, man.

Now the real question is; do I wait for the PC version, or do I borrow the game and the PS from my friend to play it right away? (No, I still haven't bought a PS3. I'm not paying 250 fucking Euros for hardware that is so damn outdated and weak.)
The PS3 has incredible games, and more great ones on the way (The Last of Us will probably be a masterpiece).
You're obviously not a real gamer if 'hardware' takes precedence over, y'know... GOOD GAMES.

Well, the thing is, the PC version will get the extra DLC for free and I think it'll be very good, simply because the rest of the game is so good. As for controls, I have absolutely no idea how it'll work on PC, but I think the controls for the PS3 suits the game very well, are very responsive and just feels right, when you figure them out.

As for the graphics, the PS3 does have a few framerate issues, specifically in an area called Blighttown, which I don't think will be a problem on the PC version. It's not really that bad though, but in those few areas, it is noticeable. If that's a big issue though, I'd suggest waiting.

Personally, I would borrow the PS3 and the game, simply because I really like the controls. Besides, if you borrow and play it now, you won't have to wait to play it, which is always a plus.

The combat itself was really good. (melee more than magic) I loved how it was slower paced and you couldn't button mash your way through it, unlike most action games where melee is the focus. Plus they did a really good job of making the weapons actually feel different. What I'm not crazy about, is the checkpoint system, and how they make you do the same crap over and over. That's what gets boring.

They should just make the game world bigger, add alot more monster types, make it hard as fuck, but put in a normal save system. It feels like they're artificially trying to lengthen the game with that system.
Yeah, the checkpoint system was my biggest gripe with the game. The tough bosses were fun. Fighting the same ten enemies in the same place in the same way before each attempt at the boss was not so fun.

As for the combat... eh. I just fell into a pattern. Hold block until the enemy is open. Stab a couple times. Retreat to regain stamina. Repeat. If the enemy can't be blocked then put the shield away and dodge instead.

Keep in mind that the PC version will have the DLC for free, and some better PvP stuff apparently.

OT: Love the game. Very much. Looking forward to getting the DLC for console since my PC is shitty and probably won't run it better than the 360 does anyway.

Great game, excellent combat system once again, fun boss battles and a decent challenge. Looked amazing too, Ash Lake made me gasp in awe. I don't really like the online component though. I prefer to face the challenges alone and don't like being bothered by invaders, so I mostly play offline.

But to be honest, I liked Demon's Souls more. It felt more balanced to me, had a more interesting world and characters and it had a better soundtrack. Sure, it didn't have an open world, but Boletaria felt more lonely and dark because of it, and I liked that. Boletaria also felt more 'real', less over the top than Lordran, and because of that more threatening.

I hate it, but I absolutely love the feeling of happiness overcoming a hurdle.

Shame I've been stuck on this bloody Iron Golem for ages now.
Not knowing your character build or anything, a piece of advice if you're being stomped and/or grabbed by the golem all the time is to use is to use ranged/magic and be just out of range of his weapons. He moves very slowly, giving you ample time to fire bolts of magic or arrows at him, without him getting too close. Making use of this strategy makes him very, very simple.

Or the even simpler way would be to summon Black Iron Tarkus to smash the shit out of him for you :D

.....?

What's your point? I should just suck it up and pay an outrageous sum of money for a machine that is worth maybe 150 Euros?

Sorry, I guess I'm not a "real gamer! xDDDDD" then.
So what's your alternative? Pay ?80 for a PS2...? Or ?800 for a gaming rig that plays PS3 games at a higher resolution and with a shittier input method? I don't see your point either.
