I liked the fight with Quelaag and I hated Souls fans going on and on and on and on about the difficulty when most of it is really just common sense and Pyro spells with only 3 cheap bits. Also, the inability to pause the game, I hated that too.
A shittier input method is the mouse and keyboard setup. Seriously, using a keyboard for navigation in anything other than an RTS is like trying to play twister with your fingers. And for those who say that you can just hook up a 360 pad and use that, well that's basically just an admission that they agree.SmashLovesTitanQuest said:My alternative is to build a gaming PC for 500 Euros - costs twice as much as the cheapest PS3 model, has 3 times the power.WhyWasThat said:So what's your alternative? Pay ?80 for a PS2...? Or ?800 for a gaming rig that plays PS3 games at a higher resolution and with a shitter input method? I don't see your point either.
I'd also be curious to hear what exactly you mean by shittier input method.
Probably should wait for the pc version, it comes with a pretty big and free dlc pack the they made specifically for porting it. Console players like me will have to pay seperately.SmashLovesTitanQuest said:I played like 10 minutes of it at a friends house yesterday and instantly fell in love with it. The atmosphere is fucking awesome, man.
Now the real question is; do I wait for the PC version, or do I borrow the game and the PS from my friend to play it right away? (No, I still haven't bought a PS3. I'm not paying 250 fucking Euros for hardware that is so damn outdated and weak.)

SmashLoves, both options sound good. Obviously I don't know how well the PC port will be (I can only hope it will be just as good, I might buy it just to help the developers a little more). A high-end PC is definitely a good investment.SmashLovesTitanQuest said:snip
Sure, but a good PC is better in the long run. Stop trying to argue your "console > PC Mantra" cause it's not going to work. You already lost a lot of credibility with your "real gamer" spiel.WhyWasThat said:A shittier input method is the mouse and keyboard setup. Really? I don't know what kind of build you have, but the lightning spear from the mimic in that same level will help a lot, and Iron Tarkus is a great NPC summon. His soul sign is in a tower next to the boss entry rather than right by it. Try that and I guarantee you'll have a much better time.kman123 said:I hate it, but I absolutely love the feeling of happiness overcoming a hurdle.
Shame I've been stuck on this bloody Iron Golem for ages now.
If you prefer to play games on a PC, then I would highly recommend waiting until the Prepare to Die Edition comes out. It has a lot of additional content with it, that us console players are going to have to wait for. Although I can't be sure just how it'll play with a mouse and keyboard. But that might just be because I'm not used to playing much of anything other than an MMO on PC. Unless you plan to hook up a controller, which then I'd say wait for the PC version indefinitely. xPSmashLovesTitanQuest said:I played like 10 minutes of it at a friends house yesterday and instantly fell in love with it. Anyway, I loved it, just as I loved Demon's Souls before it. Boss fights, the world, which felt a lot bigger this time around, not in the least because of a seamless, non-sectioned world, the combat, not much difference from Demon's Souls, but it's great as is, so why change it, the atmosphere, everything felt right and just plain awesome.
As for things I disliked, I'll have to say the online pvp part. The base game itself feels fair, even if it's frustrating at times, but the pvp is just messed up. Sure, there are a lot of OP builds, which can be annoying, but what really makes me dislike it, are all the lagstabbing going on. I've experienced several times to be face to face with an opponent, only to be backstabbed by that very same opponent the next second, completely out of nowhere. It felt really random and a lot worse than pvp in Demon's Souls.
I've completed the games 2 times so far and I'm pretty close to beating it the third time. The fourth will be the time I get my platinum trophy. The only other game I've done that with, is Demon's Souls.
i totally agree with you, no matter how good the games are paying too much money for hardware got us into this mess where big publishers think they can charge whatever they want as long as they keep chopping up games and selling them in pieces, because we love games and playing new ones RIGHT NOW oh so muchSmashLovesTitanQuest said:.....?WhyWasThat said:The PS3 has incredible games, and more great ones on the way (The Last of Us will probably be a masterpiece).SmashLovesTitanQuest said:I played like 10 minutes of it at a friends house yesterday and instantly fell in love with it. You're obviously not a real gamer if 'hardware' takes precedence over, y'know... GOOD GAMES.
What's your point? I should just suck it up and pay an outrageous sum of money for a machine that is worth maybe 150 Euros?
Sorry, I guess I'm not a "real gamer! xDDDDD" then.
Your on the money with this. Pretty much 1 of my 2 gripes with a game I absolutely adore. The combat becomes stale and boring. Even though there are so many moves you can perform with your weapon, all that is required is basically hold block and attack when you can. Yes, actually using your moveset effectively will clear enemies faster - but whats the point? It's too risky for a proper run and you can run past enemies in a speed run.Zhukov said:As for the combat... eh. I just fell into a pattern. Hold block until the enemy is open. Stab a couple times. Retreat to regain stamina. Repeat. If the enemy can't be blocked then put the shield away and dodge instead.
Basically, this. But with Anor Londo as another breathtaking moment.WhyWasThat said:Stumbling onto Ash Lake was probably one of the most breathtaking gaming experiences that's ever happened to me. Just discovering the staggering infinitum of enormous twisted trees that spread into eternity, coupled with the dead and freezing waters of the lake itself was, frankly, almost terrifying. That was probably my highlight. What I hated however, was losing almost every single PvP I engaged in.
Oooooooohhhhh yes. I literally cannot pass them without another player as a meat shield. I've got the hitpoints and the shield strength to block both, but not if they're firing from opposite directions at the same time.Witty Name Here said:I despised: The Archers in New Londo, you know the ones... Play it asap, if you are only borrowing it from a friend what do you have to lose? By the time the PC version comes out, you will be so knowledgeable about the game that you will be able to plan and build a kickass character for the PC version. Your first character will be fairly trash compared to later ones you make so don't worry about losing it when your friend wants the game back, consider it a training runSmashLovesTitanQuest said:Now the real question is; do I wait for the PC version, or do I borrow the game and the PS from my friend to play it right away?
