I liked the fight with Quelaag and I hated Souls fans going on and on and on and on about the difficulty when most of it is really just common sense and Pyro spells with only 3 cheap bits. Also, the inability to pause the game, I hated that too.

Loved it and then I got stuck and I haven't played it in months. I keep thinking I should pick it back up again but I have to muster the motivation.

So what's your alternative? Pay ?80 for a PS2...? Or ?800 for a gaming rig that plays PS3 games at a higher resolution and with a shitter input method? I don't see your point either.
My alternative is to build a gaming PC for 500 Euros - costs twice as much as the cheapest PS3 model, has 3 times the power.

I'd also be curious to hear what exactly you mean by shittier input method.
A shittier input method is the mouse and keyboard setup. Seriously, using a keyboard for navigation in anything other than an RTS is like trying to play twister with your fingers. And for those who say that you can just hook up a 360 pad and use that, well that's basically just an admission that they agree.

I played like 10 minutes of it at a friends house yesterday and instantly fell in love with it. The atmosphere is fucking awesome, man.

Now the real question is; do I wait for the PC version, or do I borrow the game and the PS from my friend to play it right away? (No, I still haven't bought a PS3. I'm not paying 250 fucking Euros for hardware that is so damn outdated and weak.)
Probably should wait for the pc version, it comes with a pretty big and free dlc pack the they made specifically for porting it. Console players like me will have to pay seperately.

You're joking right?
A. You don't need 800 Euros to build a nice PC
B. How are keyboard and mice a bad setup? No matter what you do it's extremely easy to use it just takes some practice to get used to when you switch from a game pad.

It's my favorite game currently. It, along with the Binding of Isaac, are the only games that I have been addicted to in recent time.

SmashLoves, both options sound good. Obviously I don't know how well the PC port will be (I can only hope it will be just as good, I might buy it just to help the developers a little more). A high-end PC is definitely a good investment.

Sure, but a good PC is better in the long run. Stop trying to argue your "console > PC Mantra" cause it's not going to work. You already lost a lot of credibility with your "real gamer" spiel.

Well for the time I had it I loved most of it. However like many have said here the pvp is almost inherently broken. In the sewer area before Blighttown I had 2 pvp encounters in near succession. I won the first but there was nearly no hope for the second one. His gear was about 5 times better than mine, I only did about a 1/6 of my normal damage to him while he did a couple hundred each hit on me and his spear was electric. Obviously I died there.

Then after getting to Blighttown I noticed how it looked a lot like world 5 from Demons's Souls which gave me some hope in using a item to become full human again. Since both of them were basically nothing but death pits and cheapness players normally respected each enough not to try pulling any BS and just let each other go through it without harassing them. That was in Demon's Souls. This same courtesy was not found in the Dark Souls players who tried invading me there. At that point I said screw it I'm out and stopped playing.

Will I get the PC version when it comes out? Well...at their current rate of details I might later down the line when mods come and fix stuff but for now not at launch.

I hate it, but I absolutely love the feeling of happiness overcoming a hurdle.

Shame I've been stuck on this bloody Iron Golem for ages now.
Really? I don't know what kind of build you have, but the lightning spear from the mimic in that same level will help a lot, and Iron Tarkus is a great NPC summon. His soul sign is in a tower next to the boss entry rather than right by it. Try that and I guarantee you'll have a much better time.

OT: What I love is that each weapon, even those in the same class, all play slightly different. Once you find the weapon that compliments your play style, everything clicks you're buds for life. I heard the developers wanted people to develop a bond with their weapon of choice, and damn they succeeded with me.

Estocs are for champs.

If you prefer to play games on a PC, then I would highly recommend waiting until the Prepare to Die Edition comes out. It has a lot of additional content with it, that us console players are going to have to wait for. Although I can't be sure just how it'll play with a mouse and keyboard. But that might just be because I'm not used to playing much of anything other than an MMO on PC. Unless you plan to hook up a controller, which then I'd say wait for the PC version indefinitely. xP

And how about the inherent misogyn I mean awesome feeling that comes from beating the game?
I don't think misogyn(y) means, what you think it means.

Anyway, I loved it, just as I loved Demon's Souls before it. Boss fights, the world, which felt a lot bigger this time around, not in the least because of a seamless, non-sectioned world, the combat, not much difference from Demon's Souls, but it's great as is, so why change it, the atmosphere, everything felt right and just plain awesome.

As for things I disliked, I'll have to say the online pvp part. The base game itself feels fair, even if it's frustrating at times, but the pvp is just messed up. Sure, there are a lot of OP builds, which can be annoying, but what really makes me dislike it, are all the lagstabbing going on. I've experienced several times to be face to face with an opponent, only to be backstabbed by that very same opponent the next second, completely out of nowhere. It felt really random and a lot worse than pvp in Demon's Souls.

I've completed the games 2 times so far and I'm pretty close to beating it the third time. The fourth will be the time I get my platinum trophy. The only other game I've done that with, is Demon's Souls.
That was a joke btw lol

I love the game as much as anyone, the combat, the world etc. Unfortunately I suck so even though I like it I really can't bring myself to play it. I'm one of those people who throws controllers across the room when they lose a lot. I'd be buying a new controller every week if I continued playing this game.

The PS3 has incredible games, and more great ones on the way (The Last of Us will probably be a masterpiece).
You're obviously not a real gamer if 'hardware' takes precedence over, y'know... GOOD GAMES.
.....?

What's your point? I should just suck it up and pay an outrageous sum of money for a machine that is worth maybe 150 Euros?

Sorry, I guess I'm not a "real gamer! xDDDDD" then.
i totally agree with you, no matter how good the games are paying too much money for hardware got us into this mess where big publishers think they can charge whatever they want as long as they keep chopping up games and selling them in pieces, because we love games and playing new ones RIGHT NOW oh so much
you could however try to find a used one in good shape, just have to be lucky, i got mine a year for 170? off some guy who really needed the money to pay rent. i still have yet to buy a game new and at full price, 60? is waaaay to much for game that will drop to 35? that within 4 month.

oh and to answer your original question: wait for the PC version and see if they get the controls right for m&k.

As for the combat... eh. I just fell into a pattern. Hold block until the enemy is open. Stab a couple times. Retreat to regain stamina. Repeat. If the enemy can't be blocked then put the shield away and dodge instead.
Your on the money with this. Pretty much 1 of my 2 gripes with a game I absolutely adore. The combat becomes stale and boring. Even though there are so many moves you can perform with your weapon, all that is required is basically hold block and attack when you can. Yes, actually using your moveset effectively will clear enemies faster - but whats the point? It's too risky for a proper run and you can run past enemies in a speed run.

Secondly, weapons become too overpowered. Or, dare I say, you are required to upgrade your weapons in order to progress. You dont need levels in anything, just an upgraded weapon. Its ridiculous. I hope the next game takes a leaf out of The Witcher 2's book and forces you to use everything at your disposal to win fights, rather than have a weapon that can destroy the anyone in a couple of swings.

A tertiary point: my favorite fight in the game was with Oscar of Astora. It was a fight that required me to put everything I had learnt previously too good use and he was a mere hallow - not some gigantic 15 story boss whose fire farts destoy the motherfucking planet... More human to human fights would be better.

I love the game, but I cant bring myself to play it anymore. These things really bother me, as well as the completely broken PvP.

Stumbling onto Ash Lake was probably one of the most breathtaking gaming experiences that's ever happened to me. Just discovering the staggering infinitum of enormous twisted trees that spread into eternity, coupled with the dead and freezing waters of the lake itself was, frankly, almost terrifying. That was probably my highlight. What I hated however, was losing almost every single PvP I engaged in.
Basically, this. But with Anor Londo as another breathtaking moment.

Witty Name Here said:
I despised: The Archers in New Londo, you know the ones... Those guys are Arseholes.
Oooooooohhhhh yes. I literally cannot pass them without another player as a meat shield. I've got the hitpoints and the shield strength to block both, but not if they're firing from opposite directions at the same time.

One of my favorite memories of Dark Souls is when I was invaded in the Catacombs. I was at the second Bonfire near the spiked bridges when I suddenly had the message that I was being invaded. I ran out of the bonfire cave and climbed the nearby ladder and saw someone's phantom in the distance emerging from the Catacombs entrance and heading straight for me. I saw that they were aiming to roll onto the lower bridge which then gave me the idea to pull the lever that spins it round. Just as I did so he landed and was promptly flung into the depths of the cavern. It was as funny as the time when the Hydra in Ashlake suicided whilst making love to the tree you past on the way to the dragon covenant.

Play it asap, if you are only borrowing it from a friend what do you have to lose? By the time the PC version comes out, you will be so knowledgeable about the game that you will be able to plan and build a kickass character for the PC version. Your first character will be fairly trash compared to later ones you make so don't worry about losing it when your friend wants the game back, consider it a training run :D
