Dark Souls is a game that really was if not my best buy definitely my most cost-effective buy of 2012. Loved the difficulty relished the sense of achievement but like a lot of games I play for some reason I left off fully completing the game until fairly recently.

So I get back to it and I manage to kill Gwyn fairly handily (Since I like riposting) and threw myself with great gusto into my NG+, slaughtering the denizens of the Undead Burg and BlightTown with my Iato +15.

Great Craic.

Had a ball even with the Boss monsters. A few hicups (this is DS after all) until I remembered the tactics I used to defeat them before and even managed to come with better ones sometimes.

Until Sens Fortress.

Man, Fuck Sens Fortress. I liked the place fine enough the first time around, But this time...

Rage. Impotent Rage.

I had suddenly become dyslexic when it came to those swinging blades. The one time after about four hours I manage to make it past the first set my face gets eaten by that first mimic chest. I had totally forgotten about it so lost was I in the euphoria of FINALLY getting past those assholes of swinging blades.

My ragefit was so loud and lasted so long my girlfriend came into the room genuinely thinking that I had managed to do myself some kind of injury.

Never was I so happy to see a bonfire than when I reached the one on the roof of that accursed place. It was so bad and I was so stressed out I didn't even bother rescuing Big Hat Logan. I just couldn't be arsed.

Because man, FUCK Sens Fortress :)

So escapists my questions to you is ever come across a similar situation?

Playing a game in NG+ you come to a brick wall at a place where you sailed through during the first playthrough?

Or did you as a different character in an RPG game you have already completed suddenly come into a brick wall at a place where your previous character just breezed on through?

Stories please?

I never had much trouble with Sen's Fortress the second time. The layout of the traps is basically imprinted in my memory.

As for your question I found the entirety of Borderlands 2 NG+ mode to be a massive brick wall. May have just been that I had the wrong build or something though.

I honestly found my Dark Souls NG+ playthrough to be easier than my original playthrough, despite the enemies having increased health and damage etc because I knew the tactics and strategies to defeat them well. Not even the Four Kings gave me any problems on my NG+ playthrough. It was kind of the opposite for me really, things I struggled with in my original playthrough I sailed through smoothly on my NG+ playthrough.

I didn't have much trouble with Sen's Fortress, I pretty much know the place off by heart but if you want some advice try using pyromancy, it helps a lot because you can take out those pesky snake people at range and then make your way through the swinging blades stress free. Also the boss doesn't have much of a fire resistance either from memory. Hell, pyromancy pretty much solves all your problems in Dark Souls, I didn't even bother trying to parry Gwyn, just circled him spamming combustion and great combustion etc and killed him very quickly.

Back when Diablo 3 was a pretty fresh game, Act 2 on Inferno was a very frustrating brick wall for the very under geared me. Not much fun at all.

In Demon's Souls NG+, it was pretty much the same. Reasonable damage to my large health bar and my awesome Blueblood Sword combined with Light weapon buffing pretty much got me through most of them.

Until...

FUCKING MANEATER at Tower of Latria 3-2!!!

I have no idea why but I just couldn't beat it on NG+!!! I don't know whether it was that damn charge attack that was way too devastating now or the fact that its sonic blast gets you by surprise, but fuck did I just quit after that.

I am slowly developing a taste for pyromancy actually in my NG+. I'm in Arnor Londo now and having Ornstein and Smough. They've killed me a couple of times now but that was kinda expected...I'm gonna rock some iron flesh and if that works.

Cheers!

If you are patched up to date then Iron Flesh is nerfed beyond belief to the point of being almost useless. It needed dealing with though as it used to be too godly against a lot of bosses and was pretty much a cheesy way to brute force yourself through the game.

Wait till you get to Four kings. Each NG+ you slowly lose that ability to take them out one by one.

Four Kings, my friends, FOUR KINGS. Those motherfuckers are out to ruin our day it seems. Just wear the best armor you can find and wield your strongest weapons and kill each one as fast as possible. I thought playing Anor Londo on a normal playthrough was bad enough, but Four Kings on NG? Damn those fuckers.

For a non Dark Souls example, World S in Super Mario Galaxy 2. First three levels? Nothing bad. The rest, including Green Stars and Grandmaster Galaxy? Rage has been induced to hell and back.

I don't play online at all so my DS is the original. I'm using it now (just to see) but to be honest I just feel that I'm too bloody slow with it on.

I like the ability to roll.

While not on a NG+, I was basically sailing through Blight Town for the first time, despite all the horrifying things I'd heard about it. I had gotten to the swamp, but had no knowledge of the bonfire nearby, so I went back up to try my hand at the wall hugging parasite. Big mistake. Since then I haven't been able to make my way down to the swamp, and it's been increasingly frustrating!

It's not much good in the O&S fight even in its old form. I find if I can take out Ornstein then powered up Smough is absolutely no trouble no matter the NG level as he never hits me providing I don't get cocky.

Since the layout never changes, Sen's Fortress was never to difficult once you got through it the first time. The only thing that gets me every now and then is the last set of swinging blades. That optical illusion.

Being dyslexic myself I take offense to that. [sub]not really[/sub]

The only trouble I've had with NG+ was when I went into Tomb of the Giants and fought Nito. He ended up 2 shotting me thanks to the nearly instant toxic AoE he has that I can NOT avoid for the life of me. Probably doesn't help that my BSS +15 doesn't do as much damage as it did the first time around.

Also Pinwheel actually did damage to me... I was shocked.

I horrifically remember the terror that are Bonewheel Skeletons. just... just..... god no...especially losing 13 humanity and 50k souls when i got killed, went back to get them, only to be shoryuken'd by the greataxe black knight so hard i flew back up through the drop down hole...Murdered to Death.

Took me days to get through that room. Had to look up online and everything, just how to deal with them, and finally made it to Pinwheel.

Easiest boss ever. I even accidentally leapt into the path of 5 friggen fireballs at once (ignored too many clones), and still LIVED and won that fight first time through.

Hours later, the painted world of aramis showed me tiny corridors with Bonewheels, and somehow i put on my 'just deal with it' shades, slightly sidestepped them, and found out that if you angle it just right, their outside edge will catch on your shield, and they will be locked in place while they spin, unable to touch you or your shield, and you can just smack the twerps with ease? I went through the whole place without even taking more than a hit or two of stamina loss from shield pings. unbelievable.

Three words for you: The Four Kings.

And also. Oh My God. On normal difficulty they are a piece of cake. Kill each one individually before they all start to pile on you.

In NG+. Start to kill one. His attacks almost kill you. Suddenly from behind you there is another King and he's just stabbed you in the back. I haven't even got to the stage where there are 4 on me. I imagine I would have to stop playing because my tears would start to block my vision. And to get to this delightful reward of being dominated by 4 undead Kings, you have to go through the most irritating creatures in the whole game (Drakes), and then lots of the dark void men and ... I just lost patience. I'm waiting to get Xbox Live again and summon my friend to help deliver the pain.

EDIT: Realised it was so long since I had played I had forgotten there are actually Four of them. Or else my mind has simply repressed the whole episode.

There is a really quick shortcut down to 4 Kings from Firelink which only has a couple of enemies along the way. There is a place you can drop down from where the long wooden bridge is and you can land on a wall and then drop down again and you are practically next to the entrance to their area. Saves you a lot of problems.

Ah, okay dropping down because the water has been drained? I agree that would solve mostly the problem of getting there. BUT... it doesn't solve the fact that the Four Kings are crazy bastards. But I don't expect you to be able to help with that though.

Never died in NG+, compared to hundreds of deaths in first gamethrough.

As for Bonewheel skeletons - cast soul mass, they charge in, die. Magic is so op in dark souls. :<

Yeah once the water is drained.

And no I can't help with the crazy harshness :/

This isn't in NG+, but I was doing a sorcerer run without leveling my character. I'd made it all the way to the Painted World with a few deaths here and there, but I'd always managed to reach my blood stain. By that point I had earned 27 humanity and around 3000000 souls.

Then the game unleased wheel-skeletons on me.

I raged pretty hard at loosing half a game worth of spoils, but pressed on and set about taking the damn things out. 12 or so deaths later I quit and deleted my character.

I found NG+ much easier... until Anor Londo, where the difficulty really set in. I had difficulty with the end-game areas even with upgraded equipment, so they're all but impossible on NG+.
