First thing I need to know is what kind of roll do you have. Fast, medium, or fat roll?

Without knowing that information O&S is a marathon fight. Its not a race. So that in mind what I find best for fat rolling characters is hit and run tactics. When they make a move you dodge it get a hit in and then back out.

The other general tip I can give you is try to keep them both in view at all times or otherwise be aware of where they are and what theyre doing.

Now when you kill Smough you get to fight super Ornstien which is the easier one IMO. The best tactic is move right between his legs where he can only hit you with two move. The first move is the jump up buttslam with a lightning AoE. Fast rolls can just dodge backwards a few times and youll be fine. Medium rolls might be able to do the same, I dont recall off the top of my head. Fat rolls can not dodge this attack so your best bet is to start backing out while blocking with a high lightning resist shield.

The other attack is an unblockable one where he impales you on his spear. When you see that animation watch the left? foot. When its about to touch the ground roll forward and you will avoid it with any roll.

One additional thing, since you cant parry them and since youre building kind of heavy dont be afraid to put on a greatshield to further mitigate blocked elemental attacks.

Easiest thing you can do is summon some Sun Bros to help you out.

Best thing you can do?

Unequip your armour and weapons and punch them to death while this plays in the background.

Im at a mid roll barely, i think im one point under 50% I have a normal +5 greatsword i could use but i dint know if the magic damage\faith scaling would be better or just pure physical damage? and i if did use the GS i would be into fat roll and then i guess i could just switch up to havels if that would be smart?

Captcha: Which one is yummiest? SMOUGH IS IN MY CAPTCHA!!! HE FOLLOWED ME TO WORK!

An easy way to find out which does more damage is to equip both, go inside to fight them. Smack one and note the damage, then switch and smack him again with the other one. Use whatever is higher damage

Generally the thing about O&S is you want to be faster, not heavier. The reason being that locked combat makes it more difficult on the first part because theres two of them that can easily flank you. Thats why hit and run tactics work so well against them. Avoiding the higher damage attacks is also easier.

That said, Ive beaten them with fast, medium, and fat rolls solo and I do highly recomend you beat all the bosses solo on your first run, it makes it feel sooooo much better when you finally win. So its not impossible to do, Im just saying whats easier in my experience

If you're really sold on staying heavy then keep them both in view and watch for attacks. After one, move in, two hand it and smack them once, then get your shield out and back off. Do that till Smough is dead

As a side note, if you want a more sturdy parrying shield keep killing silver knights for a silver knight shield. That thing is amazing when fully upgraded

I got them on my first try, but alas I did Ornstein first, so I doubt I'd be much help there. I also stashed my own +5 Divine Claymore for the fight and used a spear so I could keep my shield up the entire time and mitigate any random damage I was too slow to twitch out of (a fire spear might help, if you have the means to make one...I used the lightning spear but I suspect Ornstein has some resistance to lightning given he's chucking it around all the time). I ALSO put aside my elite knight armor and wore Havel's Armor, as it had good lightning resist (and excellent physical resist), as there's quite a bit of incidental lightning damage you take over the course of the fight. I wasn't too fussed about rolling. I think I maybe rolled twice during the 25+ minute fight. You're mostly just backpedaling and using pillars.

Smough seems vulnerable to lightning, so you can use lightning spear on him to great effect if you can find a window to get it off. I used fire pots for Ornstein, I found him too nimble for spear. I threw about 40 at him. Didn't kill him...they don't do a ton of damage...but you can chuck them while backpedaling with virtually zero risk (whereas lightning spear leaves you a little open, you need to time those).

Once one guy is down you can use pillars and enemy recover time to pinch off a heal if you want to top up without wasting flasks.

Pikachu is weak to fire, so get a curved sword +10 and make Quelaag's Furysword, or get a Fire sword...or Pyromancies.
Snorlax is weak the lightning, so chuck lightning bolts at him like you're goddamn Zues.

Get something like the Silver Knight Shield or the Eagle Shield. SKS has more stability and better lighting guard than the Black knight shield, while the Eagle Shield only has 95% physical guard but it has the highest lighting guard in the game.

You'll want to at-least be mid rolling, but you want something with good lighting and physical defense, so an upgraded Silver Knight set or pieces of Havel's armor combined with other things will be good.

Poison arrows also work against them, if you want to use a bow.

If you're strong enough and haven't done so already, go to the catacombs and kill the boss. You'll be able to get more Estus from kindling if you do, and you get a cool mask.

I beat Lautrec by back-pedaling like a lunatic for 10 minutes and throwing firepots. Lautrec would roll backwards every time I threw a firepot at him, giving me a window to thrash his lackeys.

Cowardice is usually the best policy, it seems. Reminds me I need to go buy a bunch of firepots, I think I'm out.

Fixed that for you.

Good to know Smough is ACTUALLY weak to lightning. I suspected, but wasn't sure.

Is Ornstein resistant?

Generally, things that use a specific element are resistant to that element, so yes.
I believe Smough is also resistant to fire.

They can be poisoned, so I think they can most likely be toxic'd.

They can indeed be toxic'd. I once beat them by throwing dung pies and then just running away.
