I'm almost at the end of my first play through (About to fight Gwyn) and I can't help but feel odd that I'm still using a lightning spear and the great sword of Artorias (the only weapon I used a great soul to make". I've got a cache of weapons, trianite and souls, do you know of any good weapons to forge that are high quality?

I like Halberd! Decent range, damage. But I figure it plays a lot like spears so it's not a good idea if you want to try a new style (never tried spears btw).
Other than that try Uchigatana, its R2 attack is a straight shot, good idea for clearing narrow corridors.
Scythes also have pretty cool movesets. :')

You should go and level a scimitar to +10 and use queelag's soul to forge the furysword. One of the best weapons in the game and it looks awesome.
Zweihander! I think I have it Raw+5 right now. I've got my strength jacked up, so I can carry a shield with it. I can basically one shot most enemies, and stagger anything else. The only problem is groups of small guys.

Greatsword of Artorias is a very good weapon. My personal favorite was the bastard sword though. Even at +15, it str/dex modifiers are pathetic so I just use the elemental version. I expect many will say the claymore is better than the bastard sword; I just think it looks so motherfucking boss.
Your weapons would scale up or down depend on your build. For example, if you Faith is high, Occult or Divine weapons would scale up.erttheking said:

You'd have to upgrade a Straightsword/Greatsword/Ultra Greatsword to +10 to make use of Gwyn's Soul for a weapon. You need it for the Knight's Honor trophy/achievement(if that means anything to you) and you need 50 Faith for Sunlight Spear from Gwyn's Soul. And if you leave the Sunbros you can't equip the miracle. Overall I wouldn't bother with Sunlight Spear unless you're Faith-based. Even then, it's not all that great of a miracle. Fun to play with, but I suppose it's just not my thing.erttheking said:
I can't recommend a weapon without knowing what kind of character you are, though. My Str/End-based Warrior is toting around a Black Knight Greataxe, Greatshield of Artorias, an Elite Knight helmet and armor with Havel's gauntlets and legs.
I recently made a Dex/Int based Pyromancer(yes I'm aware Int doesn't affect Pyromancy, lemme finish) that's gonna tote around 3 Sorceries and 2 Pyromancies(specifics are unclear as this given time), a Moonlight Greatsword, Black Knight Shield, the Witch Set and the Crown of Dusk/Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring for increased magic damage. I already have an ascended +5 Flame, unsure of what Catalyst I'm going to use, however.
